2009 ST1300 Bargain
« on: April 19, 2012, 07:24:54 PM »
Regretably I must sell my beloved ST but want it to go to a good home.

Ex-Honda corporate bike we've had from 4,000k's
48,000k's and very well looked after.

Will do a great deal for an OzSTOC member or potential member but you'll have to be quick.
Send me a pm to talk price

Its a pity my ST11 is going so well, as I would pick up the ST13 without hesitating, as it is barely run in.

This bike looks like it will be sold tomorrow.

If you'd like to make an offer or would like to make an offer in the coming weeks, please send a personal message to exchane contact details.

Kev guessed right '11 or '12 wing will be the next bike.

The wing is a nice bike to ride for sure. It goes as fast as you should on the road.  The BMW 1200LT is a bit sportier to ride and slightly lighter - not that it matters that much for those 2 bikes!

I too have now decided that my next will be a wing....whenever that is...

+1 - just that the 13 is soooooo good and nice to ride - parting with it will be somewhat devastating.

Good luck Chris - make sure you keep your foot well and truly in the door here too.

No worries Deisel, we have a few ST owners in the area and in the Ulysses Shearwaters Branch (of which I'm now president).
We have a great relationship with the Honda dealers here and have passed on your business cards to them.

Shame I couldn't get any kind of offer from anyone for the ST...

Yeah mate - I think the reason is that the vast majority of punters on here are already enjoying their STs and not in the market for a newy, but make sure you leave an OzSTOC card in the glove box, and give us a pictorial of the new Wing when she arrives. A good little comparo of where each bike excels would be an interesting read too.      :thumbsup

Good Luck.

Will do,

I had the '11 model to demo from Fri to Mon & even got to do some laps of Sandown for a charity day for the vision impared. It had 2100k's on it

This one

Not this one, though he was more popular.

I took it back and was about 75% happy with what it did for me.
My partner Robyn was very happy with her surroundings but said, "you're the one who's got to ride it".

I jumped on the '12 model and could feel the difference before I got out the driveway.
I thought "now this is a Japanese built bike", taught, smooth & finished.

No wonder we love our Jap built ST's

A comparo will be in a couple of weeks. Delivery is next w/end.
$13.5K would've got you the ST

Irrespective of where the bike I rode was produced or assembled or whether it's a "2011" or not the difference in the two bikes was a defining factor in my decision to purchase.

Riding the superseded model for four days, then riding the 2012 for less than on hour - there was a clear winner.

Honda sales people describe the superseded model as the "2011 model" and they are who you deal with. I'll check the country on of manufacture the plate next time I'm at the dealer.

The way things are headed we might have to make a sub-club (or something) to keep our ageing ST riders   :eek

Not funny- I'm headed that way one day- might be the only way I can keep Missus Biggles on the bike as she's starting to find the 1300 a bit of a task to climb on and off- stuffed knees and hips, unfortunately.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

A mate bought the 2010 new-  top of the line jobby.
Preferred his 2008 Wing.  The chrome on it didn't rust in the first 6 months!  He does live in Gladstone, but he did in 2008 too.

Having done a test ride of the 2011 Wing at the snowyride, you do not have to be old to ride one..they go very nicely and as fast as you want (should) on public roads.  I could easily live with one.  The 2012 does look sharper but haven't ridden it.  The BMW 1600 would have to be a contender though..have to try it.

The " new toy" will bring added comfort to our touring and that would go with out saying. I have the most respect for the ST and will ride the wing as if I was on one.

If you start get under  the skin and into the wing there is a lot of parallels between the two.

I'll report on my rides and join yours (at the back of course) on future OZSTOC rides and adventures.

If that's OK?

Well, at least it's a Honda   :grin

I'm with you on the aspect of there being some commonality with the ST1300.
We've all seen the vid of the guy riding a Wing on the Tail Of The Dragon in the US as if it were an ST.
So goodonya for planning to ride it that way.

So we've got the progression...
CB250->  CB400  ->  Fireblade   ->  Blackbird  ->  ST11/13  ->  Goldwing     :thumbs

One of the lads in the UK has a Wing, he used to have a Fireblade as well but sold that about a year ago.

I've only ridden once with him when he was on the Wing but it opened my eyes as to how well you can go on them.  It was hilarious watching him in my mirrors in the twisties, the huge thing cranked right over.  (I was actually laughing!).  Needless to say, the underside of his bike is well and truly scraped, the poor bike had nothing more to give.
