Title: Inexpensive H4 LED globes
Post by: BigTed on April 06, 2020, 10:21:34 AM
hi folks, I've been running some LEDs sourced from motosales.com.au (http://motosales.com.au) successfully for 2yrs now... the left halogen used to blow a few times a year so I'm happy with the change.

Well, the left went again on the weekend ... I went to buy another - but motosales.com.au (http://motosales.com.au) appears to be down (it's there, but has errors)...maybe gone forever.

So, has anyone successfully sourced cheaper units (than the typical $100+ kits) from anywhere? I'm happy to buy from eBay, but only if one of you fine folk can recommend one.

Cheers, Rob.

HI BT,
I used these in my ST1300, after trying several other LED headlight globes.   The principal issue I had with others was that I could not get a decent low-bean cut off, the these have a good cut off and seemed quite durable.

I reckon some other OzSTOC folk are running the same globes.

Thanks for the recommendation, Pete...  :thumbs

Unfortunately it looks like they don't have them in white at the moment plus when I tried to add the yellow ones to my cart (just for the hell of it) I got this message:
"This Supplier/Shipping Company does not deliver to your selected Country/Region"  :o

I'll do some googling to see if I can find another supplier...

Oh, you probably already know this but using these globes will render your bike unroadworthy...  :-(((

Why is that?
Because under the ADR's unless your bike was made with them or it is a manufacturer supplied part it does not meet the regulations, ADR 19/01 from memory

What Brookester said... ++

These couple of links may help clear things up a bit: https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/blog/2019/04/led-headlights-road-legal (https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/blog/2019/04/led-headlights-road-legal)
 https://www.racq.com.au/cars-and-driving/safety-on-the-road/driving-safely/headlights (https://www.racq.com.au/cars-and-driving/safety-on-the-road/driving-safely/headlights)

If you check out many accessory shops you'll probably see that led globes (and HID Conversion Kits for example) are sold for off road use only...(as they don't comply with our ADR's)

Here's one example:

https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/x-tremeultinon-gen2-led-headlight-bulbs-h4-twin (https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/x-tremeultinon-gen2-led-headlight-bulbs-h4-twin)

Scroll down to "Features and benefits"

You'll see that it actually states that they are Not road legal

Cheers  :beer
