It looks like we are now not available. My two sisters in Tasmania have decided that weekend is the ideal time for their once in a decade visit. Given the accommodation they can provide for a cheapskate motorcyclist I'm not inclined to upset the applecart (and I'm looking forward to spending time with them).

I thought you were in Loxton which is straight up the Stott Highway.  I'm now intrigued as too where this 30km of dirt is.

I am actually in a small town 35 or so ks out of Loxton towards the Victorian border. The dirt is between me and Loxton.

It is easier to just say 'Loxton', because people know where that is.

Got it in one. The only other real option is Taldra, but that is a lot closer to the Bitumen.

Do ten houses count? And a CFS station?

We do get quite a lot of chook chasers come through on the weekends when the weather is good, heading into Murray-Sunset National Park across the border.

When I lived in Cairns a chook chaser was a hiace 14 seater bus because they almost ran over chickens on the Toyota adverts that were on tv at the time.  I know it doesn't mean that here, but forgotten what it does mean here.

Either (sort of) good or dreadful. It all depends on how long it has been since the grader went through. They are actually in the process of sealing it because the road trains are destroying it, so it shouldn't be a problem by the end of the year. Then it will be nice bit of road for a bike.

Not sure it'll ease up by then unfortunately from the media reports:

Marshall said Victoria’s chief health officer was providing information to South Australia to help it determine when it could reopen to travellers from the eastern state.

He said the state’s border arrangement with Victoria would remain “pretty messy… for some weeks to come”.

“What information we gather from Victoria will really help us frame our response to it,” he said.

“At the moment we still do have that hard border arrangement with Victoria, so that is very helpful in protecting South Australia.

“We will look to reduce that restriction with Victoria in the coming weeks.”

Julie and I are now able to make this one. The Taswegians are not going to risk the trip after all, neither can afford a covid hiccup, which is perfectly understandable. Silver linings etc.

Does Voltarin work?  I know Wendy recommended it to me some time ago and it was useless.  I went back to Dencorub and nurofen/panadol.

Rather than a prescription for the stronger stuff, I just take more of the over the counter stuff. Same active, just a bit more expensive way to take it. The important thing is not to take it for more than a couple of days and always take it with food. The chemist can provide stronger formulations without the need for a prescription.

Home as well with a new favourite road - Sedan to Keyneton - what a ripper - good thing Julie was on the back. Great to catch up with David, Johnny (definitely travelled the shortest distance for this RTE), Lionel and the usual rapscallions. Get well call to Pete who's back called it a day, very early in the day, at Mt Barker and he had to back track.
