Mornin' All...and thank U all for your thoughts, much appreciated :thumb

Well tis day 5 in ICU (bit of a diversion eh from emergency care then to rehab :think1) Anyway, we will slog on  ;-*  Just waiting for the nod from the cardiothoracic surgeon to remove both the drain and the extra dural plumbing from my chest...these alone will be a blessed relief to get rid of. As for the indwelling urine cath...well I have sorted got used the practice of not worrying 'bout when an where ya fo for a pee, novel too is the experience of going for a walk with a nurse leading ya along by a rubber hose coming from ya nob...just a thought.

Lovely turn off phrase.

Keep up the good spirits. It's a big part of healing quickly.

On the bright side. Some people pay big bucks for that experience, you're getting that for free, so don't complain.

Remember the Can's on drugs - What he thinks is a nurse with a hose up his ole fella is actually his dressing gown belt tied around his nads so she can lead him around  ;-* and that free feeling he has been getting, whilst having a leak, has been the same warm feeling he has been getting as he lays on his sheets  ;-* :grin :rofl

It must be the meds keeping him sane enough to keep us amused with his dry wit.
Having had the tube and bag  :grin, I know what he means by not worrying about having' a leak.

Mornin' all...

Well this is a first...03:45 and reading flamin' emails n forum threads, dont want to make a habit of this! But I am awake and as nursing interests have shifted from me willy and what was residing in the little fella, to the now daily copious amonts of pee the wee bloke is producing. Funny how the female mind can shift. But I digress.

Had the plural (garden size) drain hoses and extra plural line removed from my chest yesterday, along with the fentanyl iv (will miss those perverse n wired dreams :'()...and as mentioned the urine cath, so spose norms of willy's leadership roles are returned as per the rest of the male population...he so hated being lead around by the nose Wot thuh

Anyway still in ICU until they find me a bed on a general ward later today...have declined the offer to be returned to a rehab hospital, so will use the remainder of the week in convincing the Docs to discharge me home and to get a local physio involved in the rehab process. Just miss being able to sit outside within arms reach of me beer frigde I guess.

As before, ta muchly for the thoughts and messages, back ni ni's for the now day only person as I gave up this night shift lark 8 years + ago :wink1

TTFN
the can :-)

PS...have yet to see the nuero surgeon, but the radiology report from my CT scan of the brain showed no further complications with regards to the R sub dural haematoma I sustained in the crash.

Now I mention this for no other reason other than to pass on that I was wearing a brand new off road Australian Standards approved helmet AND my off was between 10 & 20kph...that's all. My helmet was (getting AJ1300 to destroy it), of a cheap polycarbonate type shell...instead of absorbing the energy, it transferred it into my brain. I take full resonsability for purchasing such a cheap hemet and on it's first outting it came close to killing me, or at best, leaving me with and acquired brain injury. I have had an extremely lucky escape. I wont be by making the same mistake again!

Please, check your helmets ;-)

I have always been wary of cheap helmets but have always been appalled by the criminal markup at dealerships/helmet warehouses when looking for quality gear.
I find trying them on at a local store is great to get the sizing right then buying from o/s at half price on ebay is a great solution.

Arvo All...I'm home at last :grin

Now I begin the physio rehab for (hopefully), will be for a 6-8/52 period as we do not want to ammend our plans of being outta cold old Victoria and on the GC in mid July, which, if all the fractures mend well and I begin to get my fittness back, am planing on the odd over nighter on the other ST we keep up there.

So again, thank you that passed on your thoughts wishes, very much appreciated...ball is firmly in my half of the court to something with, so I reckon this thread is pretty much done n dusted. Thank you all again! :thumb

Ciao, the can :-)

Once at home, the mind will help heal faster.

Just dont be in a hurry to get back on the bike, it would be only too easy to pop something. I'm sure some one would drop by in 4 wheels to make sure you attend a function in comfort
