Shiney's Crash Video
« on: September 28, 2019, 06:47:38 AM »
Hi everyone,
As you maybe aware I crashed my ST1300 on the 15th on September 2019 (See topic: http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=13566.0)

Anyway here is the video from the Blueskysea DV188 cameras on the bike (With commentary)

https://youtu.be/_QEXWlSvfFg

Carrol and I are okay but bruised and the bike is being written off by the insurance company.

Cheers

I watched on the TV so I could see more detail.

The situation changed so quickly.

I've had a few near misses trying to accelerate when people start moving over, so now, I brake and move left or right as appropriate.

Of course, you have to be very aware of who's behind you.

The reason I do this, is you can usually brake faster than you can accelerate.

Glad to catch up with Carol last night.

How you heal well.

The new option sounds interesting.

Also, I notice you were both wearing the OzSTOC Jackets.

Is it possible to get a crash-dummies  report (:grin) on the jacket?

The jacket did very well (especially when the age and the amount of use is taken into account)
As can be seen in the photos there has been a little damage but it has don it's job well :thumbsup

Too bad the OZSTOC jackets are unique and therefore irreplaceable.

Hi Shiney,  thanks for posting up the video. That’s pretty darned scary, and I’m amazed you both came out of it with no broken bits. I hope the bruising etc clears up quickly with no unexpected after effects.

Waiting patiently (not) to hear about your cunning plan. I don’t think you two are old enough to join the OzSpyder group, but you never know.... :whistle

The insurance company gave me the chance to remove the mods / farkles from the wreck.
So on the 30th the wreck was delivered to my house and for the next 3 days I worked on it with the assistance of Draco  :-++

(The one downside to so many mods is it takes so long to remove them)

And I have also purchased a new bike...

It's a 2011 ST1300 :wht13

On my next lot of days off I'll start the long process of installing all the mods / farkles on the new bike :H

And on a final note both Carrol and myself are a lot better, the bruising has gone down and is about 60% recovered  :thumbsup

Cheers

That’s terrific mate. It’s good of the insurer to let you defarkle the old bike.

Congrats on the new bike. A casual observer wouldn’t even pick the differences.  Smart move getting another white one because we know that they go fastest, especially when you are in the right hand lane on the freeway.

The insurance company Swann decided to let me defarkle the bike as all the mods added up to a lot of money and they weren't all listed on the policy.
