StinkyPete's R1200RT is up for sale - Now Sold
StinkyPete:
For Sale
I'm selling my much loved and very well travelled BMW R1200RT, as an injury is making it rather challenging for me to ride. However, I plan on getting something quite a bit lighter for short trips. I will attend RTE's both in SA and elsewhere, but will be in the ute or with the caravan. If you want a very capable and reliable "long haul" tourer with all the fruit, this may be for you. This bike is what the ST1300 could have been. I'm giving first "Dibs" to OzSTOC members.

I'm sorry to hear it has come to this. I guess it's a decision we'll all have to make one day. I hope it goes to a good home and to catch up to you at future RTEs. I think you were the first person I met at the Normanville RTE all those years ago.

Sorry to hear you're selling your baby, Pete... :'(
I'm sure you have many many great memories of all your trips together.
Best of luck for the future and here's hoping your injury doesn't restrict you too much and you're able to continue riding for many years to come! :thumbs
Wild Rose:
Best of luck with the sale
I know it is tough to make the decision
The Doctor made the decision for me with the ST1300
But I am loving being back on 2 wheels again
Williamson:
Good luck with the sale.

It'll be good to catch-up, whether that be on two or four wheels, the calibre of the company is not dependent on mode of travel.

Yep, that day is getting closer for all of us. After my "off" March 2023, thoughts of giving up riding passed in and out of my mind a number of times. Despite a long, slow recovery and some on-going lower back discomfort when riding (even after a remedial procedure), for now "out" has won.

I had a post-op visit to the surgeon last week. We discussed progress, what I can do. Pushy (eBike) and motorcycle riding were encouraged, he said something along the lines of, get back to normal activities, motorcycle riding included, things you like are important for your mental and emotional state, a good state of mind is important for your physical recovery. I like this guy.
He did add, don't fall off though, this is how your problem started.
