On m way to Mildura
« on: March 24, 2012, 04:47:30 PM »
:rd13 Hello folks. I started out from home (Gilmore ACT) at 07:30 this morning, a cool 4 degrees and by the time I got to Yass, EVERYTHING was chilly!  Coffee fix at the servo at Yass, AND I still had my electric hand grips on, cruised with a head wind + trailer - 15 ks / litre at best.  Some hills demanded 8.5 ks / litre!! Not amused. Trailer MUST BE HEAVY!! Stopped also at Holbrook, fueled and watered then traveled down to Wodonga.  Very warm here, and dry.  Folks here are very helpful - full points to the Harley rider who advised me of where I could obtain some heavy fuel for me. Tomorrow, a leisurely run across to Howlong, then across to Deniliquin, then down to Swan Hill.  Chose this route because most of the N/E of Vic is flooded. I wanted to go across the Hay Plains - love that run, but it is a bit damp from Narranderra to Balranald ( the good old Murrumbidgee River is flooding that area). Enjoy your weekend.  This afternoon once I released the trailer, the good old ST gave me 24 ks / lire on a very enjoyable trip around the area - both of us enjoyed it!! Cheers everyone and wishing you a very pleasant weekend.  Steve

Glad you're enjoying your weekend.
Sounds to me like a great advertisement for not towing a trailer!    :wink1
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

That fuel gauge would need a rev-counter on it to give you an idea of what speed it was travelling at.  :(

I have a 5.7 statesman as well, and just like the ST it gets good fuel economy in normal riding but you pay a bit more when towing or putting the boot into it.  Scarp, I the tune in mine edited so it drives a lot better as well as great fuel economy for that size car.
