Trailer TOW fitting.

Okay, please HELP assist a fellow STowner.

I'm try to fit a Hitch to my 96 ST1100, Cant for the life of me figure out where the support struts attach to the bike, I have bolted the Main hitch piece to the muffler mounts with the required longer bolts.

I have been  :||||  :|||| for the last 3 hours and getting NOWHERE.

The bike looks like crap with the candy wrappers off.

Please supply assistance

I think the braces go to one of the saddle bag rail mount pointe, under the duck tail.

But as much as a tried they just get in the road of the panniers going back on,

Spoke with SAAZ in Canb over the phone and he thinks maybe on the grab rail mounts but i would need to rebend the bars for this to happen,
This hitch was  supposedly fitted to an 1100 previously.

Sarge,

This is where I put mine......only place I could see to locate them....had to put hole in plastic for them to slide through. And I still needed to add padding to prevent wear on side cases from them

Hands were shaking like crazy holding the drill getting up the nerves to hack into the STead.

Alan, you are a LEGEND.

I need to get another longer bolt and will update with Pics of Tow Hitch and repaired crash bar cowl all fitted tommorrow.

It's been six years since I fitted the tow bar and I'm sure that's the location that was written on the instruction sheet. I'm still wondering after all this time why Classic Trailers supply two different bars for the 1100, ABS and non-ABS. The only visible difference I can see is the ABS/Traction Control speed sensor which is located on top of drive unit.

Hey Brock they do go on the inside because of the hangers for the panniers mate. 

Sarge I have sent photos via Email because Photobucket is giving me the heebies tonight.  Same mounting point as Alan has indicated.

The 1100 looks similar to the 1300.
The 1300 has a tee shaped bar that mounts under the plastics in the duck tail. There is a need to cut a slot on either side for the stay to go through.

Make sure that you wire the trailer plug before replacing the plastics :) :) and put some silastic around the holes, to stop water ingress.
