I use the cracks on them as water spores.   :thumbsup

On the old ST11, after 8000kms

Funny thing was, when I sold that bike, they said it needed a new rear tyre.  Ripped off.... :crackup

This how my mate on his Suzuki 109 rode into Katherine from Broome.  Not much rubber left on that one.  :o   :eek
I recall seeing something similar at Middleton.  :p

The second photo shows how he left Katherine on the "darkside".   No corners to negotiate, so it was fine when running at 26psi.

Thanks to a deal with HART (Honda Advanced Rider Training) organised by Harieg, I thoroughiy scrubbed my tyres free of chicken strips today while riding the Advanced 2 course at Willowbank Raceway.

I concluded the ST13 is a very good Touring machine, but doesn't cut it on the race track with the Ninjas etc.
It was still nice to see big numbers on the speedo without dreading being heated with a "hair dryer".
It might have leaned further, but I would have needed to take my foot off the peg since it was grinding down the tip knob.

In recent times I work on the 6 month rule..I am glad if a set of tyres lasts that long.  I have the current and last 2 sets so have to remember to take some photos tomorrow.

I have a 3 year rule ,at 3 years it's time for new rubber ,as it goes hard and does not grip. From a safety point of view it's not worth the risk

Here's how to use all the rubber on the tread:

The mirrors are removed because I had to take the driving lights off, and they tape up your mirrors anyway so you don't spread glass across the track when you crash.

Makes a huge difference when you on the racetrack rather then the unpredictability of the public roads.
Everyone going in the one direction...... No potholes, debri , corrigations , dips in the middle of the corners or the odd off camber roll off.... Track days are kool

You've got to start doing more right handers, I suspect.     :whistle

Australian road cambers at work I would suggest ??? If the Off side of the tyre on the bike is the Left on Pic ???  :think1

Hi Royce
If the wear was on the rhs of the tyre as it sits on the bike it could be the the result of...
Road camber
Round abouts
A day at the track
You favour rh turns/ corners over the other

Road camber
Round abouts
A day at the track
You favour rh turns/ corners over the other

It's never camber.  There are good articles on the 'net to prove this.
It can't be roundabouts because there aren't enough of them.
Closed circuit tracks usually favour RH turns, but you'd have to do all your riding on them.
Leaning more to the right might contribute.
The real answer is  [drum roll]

It's the RH side for countries that drive on the left and vice versa because [another drum roll]

It's a greater distance around RH turns than LH turns, therefore the bike is leaned right longer than left.

Savvy?

Nah, keep sprouting your thoughts.  You can be wrong more than once!  No whippings handed out here, except occasionally by the Mods for other infractions.
