MRA Toy Run

From the MRA newsletter, a change of dates for this year's toy run

MRASA Toy Run - 3rd December 2017
The Toy Run collects toys on behalf of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for families in need at Christmas time. The MRASA has held its annual Toy Run for the last 38 years in December.

Traditionally the running of the Toy Run event has been on the second Sunday in December. This is a time chosen to be easy to remember from year to year rather than depending on riders having to find out the new date every year, and has been accepted by many riders as a way to anticipate the timing of the event.

In 2017 this will change. The Toy Run will be held on the first Sunday in December (3/12/2017). This has been decided as a result of competing demands for the East Parklands Clipsal track in Adelaide, which the Toy Run uses as a starting point for the event on the Sunday morning.

The Toy Run Committee has negotiated a program of dates for the Toy Run with the Adelaide City Council, which will see the Toy Run event alternate its dates from the first Sunday to the second Sunday for the next five years starting in 2017.

The Toy Run Committee requests all interested parties to let members of the motorcycling community whom they know and come into contact with of this change. This is essential so that there is no confusion about the date this year and so that would be attendees do not miss out and much needed donations of gifts are made.

Information about the event and confirmation of the event date will also be available on the MRASA Toy Run page and on event posters, which will be available in bike shops and other businesses around Adelaide from August and September of this year. Posters will also be available from the MRASA Toy Run Committee and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 202 Franklin Street Adelaide, for your noticeboards and windows.

I did this for the first time last year.   It's a bit early for me to commit this year.
