Single police seat to dual seat

Hi Guys, following on from other discussions and with the help of Alchemists post on this forum in Aug 2014 I completed a conversion of single to dual seat on my ex police 1300.

I deviated in some ways from Alchemist, but have only incorporated pictures that can enhance his post. All the parts were ordered as per this post and were spot on!

The hardest job by far was removing the "Honda" clips x2 in the plastic. The way to remove them in the manual did not not work, so I put a screwdriver in behind them and pushed them out, and they fell out and were reusable.

I cut all brackets off with a fine toothed hand engineers saw (24TPI). To achieve this I placed the blade at 90* so it cut sideways. A sharp blade and taking my time; this took about half an hour.

The release cable, from the lever; I ran under the top bar of the frame - not over it, into a clip designed  for it on top of the mudguard and around into the opener.

Tip for young players - dont clean the new seat with 'tire polish' - it looks great, but the pillion passenger jumps on and slides off the other side...........

If anyone would like all the photos I took send me a PM.

Pirate.

Nice job..

Another tip, never ever use Amour All to clean your seat... It wll get very slippery and you will be all over the place, every bump and corner.. (Unles you want to look like a boy racer squid). It takes about 6 months to wear off.

At least thats what I have been told, I have never tried this my self, really I havent...

Ah, that's where I've gone wrong. I've never put anything on my motorcycle seat except you know what.
