I need to add that Natman AKA Nathan and A2Z AKA Allen are also on the same ferry. We'll be meeting up in Marulan, around 150ks south of Sydney and travelling in CONVOY from there, " that'll be a big 20 from us and watching out for old Smokey".
Oh, showing my age again!!!
;-*
P.S. Biggles, I'm thinking of taking the blue 13, but it ain't yet written in stone.

To Tassie, overnight Sunday 10 November; from Tassie, overnight Friday 22 November for Bob, Phil and me.
There was some dicussion, may be on the Forum, may be at an RTE, may be both, re. organising a group booking for the Spirit. One of the Spirit's group requirements is bulk numbers, 15 minimum ALL travelling same time to and fro. Judging from the responses so far, that was never gunna happen. That's because, except for Bob, Phil and me, and Wendy and Johnny (on the "to" leg), yuse all travelling at the wrong time.
:cuss
I havent bQQked return trip yet.
I didn't book a return one time a few years back, had trouble getting a return, couldn't get a ticket for a couple of days (well that's what I told Helen). Had to ride around Tassie for a couple of extra days. What a shame!
Mmmmmm ............. part of a cunning plan, aye Johnny?

I make that 3 x ST's, 1 x BMTroubleyou, 5 x VIC reps, certainly worth a VIC pic, more than at two of this year's RTE's. Nigel has flag.

When did this happen?

I think I should add some info having done more than 50 crossings on various bikes...they know how to strap your bike down, in gear, side stand down, no centre stands, they apply your front brake with a rubber band, forks about 3/4 compressed and apply 2-3 tie down straps...it's not there first rodeo so leave them to it. Some riders have complained about damaged fork seals over my many trips, all typically popular cruiser style bikes. Never had any troubles on S10, Vulcan 2ltr, Ducati Diavel, KLR 650 & FJR1300 in all my trips. So park where and how they tell you to, grab your keys and pre packed overnight/day bag, helmet and jacket and enjoy your passage.
Special Note: Decks can be slippery and the Elephants Feet (tie down points) on the deck are to be avoided.
When disembarking, remember to undo the off-side tie down first, thats the one opposite your side stand. I have seen others not do this and in panic thinking their bike is about to tip over have either pushed their bike over into the bike next to them and/or done an injury trying to catch their bike.
I hope you all enjoy the motorcycle nirvana that Tassie is, I know I did for the 4yrs I lived there :thumbsup :thumbsup

How do they strap a st down without damaging the fairing?
-
How do they strap a st down without damaging the fairing?
They have special straps and the ST has about the same fairing as the FJR. Straps are predominately off your handle bars and NO they do not bend your bars or anything they are just for steadying the bike..also Do Not put on your steering lock

Reminds me of one of my trips on the Spirit...actually, if I remember correctly, it was the maiden voyage of the New Spirit of Tasmania... :eek

Good advice! I've taken a motorcycle to and fro Tassie a few times, left the securing of the m/c to the experts each time, never worried about a thing.
Stop scaring everyone, it'll be fine.
Yeah, just follow the experts advice.

I intend to go to my cabin and crash into bed.

Good to know Phil.
Three of us arrive Devonport morning Monday 11 November, and will generally ride this route.
https://goo.gl/maps/GpnhVV1Lv9ZX3miY7
Monday night - Wynyard via Couta Rocks and back
Tuesday night - Deloraine via Waratah & Cradle Mountain
Wednesday night - Lake Leake via the Great Lakes
Thursday night - Sheffield via Scottsdale
Friday night - Port Sorrell via Launceston airport to pick-up the ladies.
Your down south, so are paths are unlikely to cross unless you come up to Lake Leake - it'll be a good night.
Second week, we have the ladies, so we'll need to behave ourselves.
-
Just a heads up all be it on a sad note...there was a rider fatality in Tassie up near Wynyard of an interstate rider not long after leaving The Spirit, now whilst nobody knows exactly what happened the statements by Tasmania Police of over representation of motorcyclists in road trauma stats always inevitably leads to an absolute focus by them on every motorcyclist in the state for the next 2-4 weeks and especially any interstate plates.
So take care guys and girls but be aware you will be coming under far more increased attention even when you are behaving....Happy & Safe Travels to you all
