Thanks to Heather we are now the owners of a 2004 Red ST1300A. Saw on Bike Sales last night and sent an enquiry. Cost $4,990, 71,200km. I rang the dealer this morning and bike was reduced from $6,990 as the owner who has cancer (I was told) just wanted it gone so must have been on consignment.
Flying over Tuesday afternoon (cheapest flight booked and paid) stay the night with my sis who will pick me up from the airport and take me down to the bike Wednesday morning. Two day ride back with an overnight stop somewhere along the way.
If this one is as good and as trouble free as my 1100A over the last 12 years then it should be the last bike I ever buy

Congrats on the upgrade Alan. That's a great low milage bike at a great price !
-
Hi Alan Looks like the bike is at Southside Honda Mandurah Jay is a good guy and they used to service the St1300 Police bikes for the Southern Perth area so he knows his St1300 ++
Give me a call when you are in Mandurah if you want a place to stay, or if you want to catch up.
-
If you time it well you could do the border run from the west.
-
Well done Allan looks like a nice bike
Congratulations ++

Looking forward to seeing the farkling process begin.
What's first? trailer?
-
You are right Mitch
I won't have much free time but a quick meet up before I leave Perth would be ok. My sis is now at Wellard for my overnight stop.
Planned route through the city and can adjust to suit if needed. https://goo.gl/maps/LgqTcWBFATk

Classic Towbar
Migsel GPS Mount
12 volt power supply
Cruise Control - maybe from this years grain harvest
:think1 A rack for the pie warmer.........
The 1100 will still be the main ride and I'll use the 1300 for little old lady type rides on Sundays RTEs

Well done, looks like a great bike. Best colour too. :Stirpot. There is a set of risers on the site that could make it even more comfortable.
-
Congratulations alans1100 :hatwave, nice looking 1300 at a nice price with low mileage :like
-
Bring some wet gear as rain is forecast all next week, we want it done before the Border Run.
-
Well bought Alan, and I agree with Richo - best colour to get (with the added bonus that red bikes are faster). Look forward to catching up at a RTE.
Cheers ... Mark

You've scored a beauty, as the general consensus confirms. It might have some hidden farkles, since I detect a smoky grey screen- maybe a power socket etc. That's low kays, especially if it's been well looked after. Its pristine cleanliness speaks well of its owner and preparation for sale. :thumbs

After this quick trip I'm giving that a miss.

I thought the screen was a little dark compared to the new 1300 I looked at in 2009 - wonder how the Go Pro will go behind it.
-
A nice choice Alan. I see two days to ride home, I guess you know the road but those will be big days.
I am in Willetton so would be happy to pick you up from the airport and maybe we can organise for a few of us to say hello on the way to your sisters.
Let us know if there is anything we can do for you in Perth.

Ha ha, that sounds something I would say. When I was looking at bikes before buying the kwaka one thing I considered was where can I fit/stick the gopro.

Definitely not the first trip across there on the bike but funny in that I've never ridden from back Perth To Coolgardie. It's usually been to Perth and up the coast to Port Hedland and back across country to Kalgoorlie and back to SA.
At the moment sis is picking me up from the airport but with a few of you wanting an ad hoc meet up I could get the train down south to
Wellard a little later if I can get picked up at the airport and dropped off at a train station after.
Tuesday evening works better as I want to make tracks back home ASAP on Wednesday. Want to make Norseman before it gets to late.
-
I'd be happy to catch up.
Time and place.
Cockburn Central has lots of options.
Lone Star
Grill'd
G&G
San Churros
Dome
To name a few.

Alan no need for a train, Wellard is only 40 minutes from the airport. My place is in the middle so 20 minutes from my place to Wellard.
What time do you arrive Tuesday?
I won't have cheap phone access until Sunday afternoon but have good internet access.
This is the nicest bike road from Wellard to Coolgardie but if you are planning on an early morning start I have often seen roos on the section from The Lakes to York.
It has taken me about 4 attempts to get this map correct.

Have been past there a few times but never stopped off and sounds good to me.
Haven't heard of any of those places and anyway I would prefer Maccas or Hungry Jacks and by the time I get there my tummy will think my throat has been cut.
-
Hungary Jacks and Maccas at Cockburn Central, your choice Alan?
-
Are you on Jetstar 974 leaving 3:20 arriving 5:15?

Are you on Jetstar 974 leaving 3:20 arriving 5:15?
Decided to go Virgin - VA 0719 Leaves ADL at 3:40pm and arrives PER Terminal 1 at 5:40pm
Hungary Jacks and Maccas at Cockburn Central, your choice Alan?
Haven't had Macca's for awhile so make it that one.
-
Perth Airport to Maccas Cockburn Central at that time of day should be reasonably clear of traffic and about 30 minutes.
Will you be checking in luggage?
Based having to wait for luggage we could work on being out of the airport by say 5:50 to 6:00 so shall pan on being at Macca's by 6:30.
Alan if you are happy I shall raise a new thread for gathering at Maccas at 6:30.
I will pick you up from the airport and drop you at your sisters after Maccas.

Sounds like a plan I'll let sis know that there's no nee to pick me up.
By the way I happen to like Perth metro trains - a lot better than the old diesel railcars we have on the northern line to Gawler.
Southern line has been electrified but the northern one is only about half done.

an attempt at a little humour; I often hear how hot the fairing pockets get with the 1300 and some call them pie warmers -
-
I finally got it. Yes, some get very hot.

The left one gets hot enough to keep a pie warm for sure. Right one not so.

And of course being opposite to the 1100 - it's the one that locks.
Will have to find a new place to keep the tyre pressure gauge.
Interestingly the top case is the same as the one I planned for the 1100 and it looks like the LED brake light kit is installed as well.
