While Rusty has had no problems, mine dropped the maps side of android auto after about six weeks. It tells me see a seemingly non-existent update. I reached out to the seller for help on two occasions and got crickets. I would not recommend that particular seller to anyone after this.

Mine started acting up a while back with Android Auto disconnecting a few minutes after it connected.

I haven't had cause to use it in recent times but decided to give it a try coming home from our recent RTE.
All was good until I tried getting directions using Google Maps...
Google Maps "froze" although I was still able to control my music through it so it had me scratching my head!

Upon arriving home, I found it was actually Google maps on my phone that had lunched itself, and not the Android screen.
Hmm, I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and it was back up and running!

Unfortunately, it wasn't long before the Screen started to disconnect again so I spat the dummy and decided enough was
enough, time to buy a decent Android Auto screen...

That is definitely a lot pricier, so hopefully you are paying for quality as well as a brand name.

It comes with a 2 year warranty and full support.
I've read and watched a few reviews so fingers crossed...  :X

Apparently you can also send it back within 30 days if you're not happy and get your money back!

I did consider the 7 inch version but ended up going for the smaller model as i thought the larger unit might have been a bit of a squeeze between the dash and the screen.

Damn, after checking the new screen out I think it has a different power plug than the old unit so I'm guessing I'll have to do a complete rewire....
I guess it was just wishful thinking on my part hoping both units used the same power plug!  :fp

Tonight, after hooking it up to an old motorcycle battery, I had a bit of a play with the new screen... :thumbs
It wasn't overly hard to pair up to my phone & helmet once I decided to finally consult the instructions... :whistle

Anyhow, it's so much better than the old one.
The screen is more sensitive, there's an on/off button which the old one lacked, and overall, just more user friendly.
I also like the fact that it has separate volume controls for media & phone. :runyay

Now, I just have to get around to installing it...  :popcorn

Shock horror, I've actually made a start on the installation!  :runyay

And...of course the mounting points are different between the old and new screen. :cuss

So, I now need to make a completely new mounting bracket...  :||||

Okay, I've fabricated the screen mount and fitted it loosely on the dash mount just to see how it looks.
Weather permitting, I'll pull it apart and paint it black tomorrow...  :X

The spacer is slightly thicker than the one I made for the previous screen as I didn't want to hacksaw
the ram ball mount off the back of the new screen just in case I ever wanted to use the screen on another motorcycle down the track.
I simply cut a hole through the centre of the spacer, and with it being thicker, it fits snugly over the ram ball mount.

I'm undecided as to whether I'll leave the sunshade fitted or not. To me it does make the whole thing look a touch bulky.
It's only held on by 2 screws so I guess I can take it off at a later date if I don't like it...  :think1

I got the bracket and spacer block painted in satin black last Saturday and I'm pleased to say they came up pretty good...

Unfortunately since then I've had a few other things on the go so I've only managed to get back to this project today.

Anyhow, to cut a long story short, it is now installed, wired up and, shock horror, it works!   :runyay

In saying that I have had a slight issue but not with the screen...

I've had my Sena headset not wanting to re-connect to my phone, usually after stopping for a break yet it was working perfectly before the break.
Android Auto continues to work perfectly so I figured that had nothing to do with this issue.

I'd recently bought a new phone so I thought that may have had something to do with it but I now think it may have been an issue with the app that I've been using for my music.
I swapped over to another app to see how that would go and yesterday I finally managed to get out for a ride and it all worked perfectly, so fingers crossed, the issue is sorted...  :X

That's good to hear re the code, Dave!

Other than the app issue that I mentioned previously, the screen has been working flawlessly.
The change of app did the trick in regard to the headset, and it hasn't missed a beat since...
