Details to be confirmed, thinking either Tennant Creek or Three Ways for anyone who is interested.
-
I'm interested. I've heard less than flattering comments wrt to staff attitude at 3 ways.
TC may provide more options. But either location is good for a longish ride.
-
I quite like Outback Caravan Park in Tennant Creek, been stopping in there for years.

-
I,d be in that as it would be great to catch up again.
-
I could possibly be interested in doing this so I can start to get some IBA or even far rider (if we can get a sanctioned event) .
Would be best to organize this for a little later in the season so it is a little cooler.
Paul,
Check the dates. At this stage I've pencilled it in for October, same time as we did Renner Springs last year.

Spanner The only problem with later in the season is you are running into cyclone season and from Tennant Creek and further north it starts to get into the high thirties low forties temperature wise making october the best timing wise. That suits me I,ll con the boss into doing some work for me.
-
I didn't check the dates when I posted. :fp I was thinking it was being organized for the next month.
I now know it is later in the season ...... October! :runyay
-
It's possible. When I stopped at 3 ways last time it all seemed ok, did not try the accommodation side of things.
May go then back to Victoria to Airey's inlet for East #36 (and visit mum near by) then East #37 in NSW/Qld (where ever that might be, have to check) Distance before mid November is good.
That is assuming all going ok on the family front.

I agree, and have stayed there a couple of times. I'm interested..... :clap
-
Last time we only had members from Territories (ACT and NT). I suppose we could allow members from States to attend :think1 :beer
I think if we pencil in a regular event around this time, with a known location, it could become one of the marque events of Ozstoc. And if anyone wants to do IBA rides, what better place than the NT to shorten the hours needed.
Closer to the event we can see what the ride plans are. Coming in from further North has some appeal to me.
-
Saaz stop reading my mind.
3034km from my place to T.Creek (SS3000kms in 48hrs, via NSW, Vic, SA, NT and home NT, QLD, NSW)
Now to get something worked out (current wife said "just do it, you know you want too", I love the med's she's on)
I won't know till nearer the date if I'm going.
-
Bugga . . . . I was considering doing this ride . . . Then Lionel and SAAZ decided to do it . . . Bugga . . . Now I'll have to tag along . . . Bugga . . . Bugga . . . Bugga . . . Can't wait . .

maybe even a chance to convince ppl for a national rally in the red centre before the end of the century. Be central for everyone then.

That sounds like a great idea, what time of year are you thinking????

Great idea John. I'm sure having the states attend won't detract too much from our Territory overnighter o:)
In all seriousness, I'd love it if we could make this a regular event :beer
-
Well now I'm not doing the Sthn Cross Poker Run this year I could be tempted to take a few days and ride to Tennant Creek for the weekend. I'll have to swap my leave around.
-
It would be great if you could make it Craig, the more the merrier :beer :beer :beer
-
Getting close anymore info Wendy for those that may have to organize early.
cheers Paul
-
Hi all,
Confirming location of the overnighter as Outback Caravan Park, Tennant Creek.
http://www.travelnt.com/en/tennant-creek-and-barkly-region/accommodation/outback-caravan-park (http://www.travelnt.com/en/tennant-creek-and-barkly-region/accommodation/outback-caravan-park)
I will have information in the next couple of days regarding price and availability of accommodation. There is also a regular bush BBQ at the park, or shuttle bus to the RSL. I will post information on both, then we can decide which is the better option.

This should be a great weekend. Awesome opportunity for southerners to log up some IBA rides if anyone is interested. Only a measly 2000km return for us, so no IBA this time...
The more the merrier, so come on, you know you want to..... ;-*

I'm putting in for leave next week for the weekend, fingers crossed.
I'll check with the Canberra boys about sharing the accommodation :whistle

I'll cross mine too, would be great to put another face to a name :thumb
-
Just spoke to Jan at the park, much friendlier than the young girl I spoke to yesterday. I've booked by cabin, one of the standards for me and Nae.
They don't do the onsite bbqs any more, but there is a free shuttle bus to the Memo Club for dinner, or we can just do our own bbq. What do people think?
Cheers
Wendy
-
My preference is for our own BBQ as it is more fun.
-
BBQ :eat :beer
-
got to agree with Lionel and Abe for bbq
-
Cool, I'll start thinking about organising something....
-
Don't think I'll be able to make it. We're a person down at work and another guy had put in for leave for that time. One day I'll be able to get to one of these. Have fun..

Lionel is still going to my knowledge

it is my STrong desire to attend this one BUT we have a issue surrounding a return date from a previously (SWMBO'd) planned trip. The dates currently are under negotiation but I will not KNOW for CERTAIN until the day I need to actually leave.
Makes it very hard to organise but when the partner does not really understand (or approve of) my desire for LD riding it becomes a source of discontentment.
I will try and be there and will definitely post if I am going just so you know if you should expect me or not.
I will be leaving from Townsville and attempting to do a SS1600.

Sounds to me like she needs educating.....
-
is there a specific meeting time? Like the Far Rider meets? or is it just turn up and eat?
Also ..... I know this sounds like a silly question BUT what are the chances of rain? Also is there a heavy dew out that way? The reason is I have a tent but it has no fly. So if the dew / rain is heavy I need to source another tent for this trip.
cheers,
Spanner.

Can I book you in as a educational specialist?
-
shouldn't be too much rain or dew so you should be safe

Bring her along, Danae (BlueOwl, my 15yo daughter) and I will both educate her....

Bloody hot and dry at Renner Springs on Saturday, can't see it changing dramatically in 2 weeks

Owing to circumstances beyond my control I am now unable to participate in the ride.
I do enjoy riding in the NT and I like socialising with the NT crowd.

Condolences Spanner. Tenant Creek will still be there for another day.
-
Due to another late cancellation, this RTE is cancelled, unless of course there is a dark horse or two out there who were planning to attend without actually listing......
