Need seat re-covered
« on: January 03, 2021, 04:00:32 PM »
Hey all,

I just attempted to make some modifications to my seat as it was making my backside a little sore on even the shortest of rides. So I thought I'd try to add a new layer of foam to it.

Long sorty short, I suck at this type of thing so I now need to find someone who can re-foam and re-upohlster the seat for me.

Can anyone offer some suggestions around Brisbane or greater brisbane area that is reasonably priced to do this?

Cheers

Calsonic.

I had a motor trimmer rework my seat several years ago, and it was a great move.

Look for one near you, if they are any good they will ask a few questions about what you want and will get you try the feel before covering. Just adding foam probably isnt the correct way to go. Reshaping the seat worked for me.

From my personal experience I would vote no

I've taken it to a local upholsterer this morning and asked him to simply refoam and recover it so I can get back on the road ASAP. I may look into a custom job later down the track when I get the chance to see some other peoples custom seats. Its one of those things that is not a one size fits all situation so I can't just order one online and hope for the best. Anyway, Lets see how it feels when it comes back all new like :-)

The guy that did mine kept in contact through the process, with me trying the fit before covering it up (With double vinyl to keep water out.) Its still going strong.

Yeah the guy said he will get me to come and check it out before he recovers it to make sure I'm happy with it.

Had my seat redone by a local place in Ipswich called B & B Trimming & Upholstery. He had it for a week and I'm very pleased with the result.
raised the seat by 25mm and the extra padding is much more comfortable now.
