I'm sure he knew that having blue lights showing to the rear was going to attract negative attention.. Should the coper have been on the road with that tyre, no he shouldnt. He obviously didnt perform his pre drive inspection, it easu enough to have the tyre replaced.

The police officer copped it on the chin as soon as the defective tyre was pointed out to him, and immediately said that he'd defect it as soon as he got back to the office.  I trust the Grom rider took his own defect with the same grace.     However, the police officer clearly didn't do his daily vehicle inspection and will probably wear some kind of discipline.

To me the real question is should the police car have been driven away or towed?
I would say it wasn't safe to be on the road, defected or not.
What would have happen if it ended up in a high speed pursuit?

It would seem the pre drive inspections hadn't been done in quite a while for the tyre to have got that bald...

The officer should have taken out the spare and replaced it, or called for maintenance...

I never let my tyres get in to such a state..

My money is on the other front being just as bad. Doubt if he had two spare wheels.

If the Police want to be picky the guy could also nabbed for riding his bike on a road related area (nature strip) without a helmet...  :whistle

.... and on footpath, as well as intentional loss of traction, but he's careful rider having only lost his licence twice for street racing.

We have to deal complaints from the community about these mental giants every week or so, they're generally unlicensed, unregistered, under age, unroadworthy, at least this guy isn't as stupid as some.

Was he on the nature strip for that bit or in his yard?

But yeah, not the brightest of sparks by the look of it.

On the footpath and nature strip.

But yeah, not the brightest of sparks by the look of it.

I think we can all agree on that point.

SaPol could probably now serve up some mayonnaise to add to the defective vehicle ticket, or at least something Garry would've called a hamburger with the lot.

I assume the riding on the verge was for his TV/youtube coverage.
Now the police a video of him on the verge I wonder if they will be paying him a visit?
If they do I hope they do an inspection of their car first.
Hard to tell but I think the police car may also need a wheel alignment as well as tyres.
