I have found a K & N supplier in Cannington.
The cost of the filter is about the same price you can get them from overseas, the difference being you can get in within a day.
Air filter to suit ST 1300. Part Number is HA-1302 @$94.60 inc GST.
Cleaning fluid. @$23.10

I'm fitting my Cruise Control ATM & should have bought a new Air Filter BEFORE I started as I have all the Air box apart, called Dale Britton Honda $115 for OEM & Filters Elite they have the K& N Recharge pack with oil for $94.60 So I'm off to pick one up, Thanks Mal for the phone call :thumb

I have not had good experience with K+N "wet" filters in the past as they can be variable over time, even after washing and oiling, the idea of "re-using" a particle filter doesn't make logical sense to me...the filter will never be as effective after the 1st wash and oil...
many would disagree with the above no doubt.
Has any st1300 member felt a significant improvement in performance or milage (or lack of milage..) with swap over from OEM to K&N??

I'm running a K&N and any improvement in performance or economy is in the advertising. They claim to "breathe freer" but logically that should reduce filtration efficiency.
I bought one to save money and save chasing the right filter every oil change. The cloned oil filters are readily available, less so the air filters.
Over 126 refuels pre-K&N my average l/100 km was 5.4793.
Over 42 refuels since, the average has been 5.3809 l/100 km.
To me, that's not statistically significant, but at least it's not worse!

when i cleaned and recharged my filter (all cars and bike) i used less oil than recommended. work a treat and better everything

It's a wonder they bother with air filters if it's that good.

I'm just about to do a service on the ST1300 and I went to the local stealer today and they quoted me just shy of $100 for a genuine Honda Air Filter or $130 for a K & N. Neither of which they have in stock.
I can get a K & N out of the UK for about $82 delivered but was wondering is there are any after market air filters readily available for the ST1300 and if there is, where can I get it from. Alternatively, is there anywhere in NSW where I can buy a K& N for a better price than the $130 that the dealer wants.
Actually, don't worry about it. I just ordered the K & N Air Filter and Oil Filter from Amazon.com, for $90.02 delivered. Thanks Big Ted for the info. For some reason they wouldn't forward/mail the recharge Pack but I'll get one locally.

Only joking, I sort of figured that was the reason. Mind you, the kit was about $10 from Amazon and the cheapest I've found here is about $27.00. I'd really love to support our local retailers more than I do but the mark up on imported goods is just ridiculous and like everybody else I am having to stretch my 'self funded retirement income' further and further every day.

It's only a solvent and a spray pack of oil. You could clean with something like turps and fill a spray gun with light machine oil. It doesn't have to be red.

The K & N Air Filter and Oil Filter arrived today, 10 days from when they were ordered. Excellent delivery times considering it was the Christmas / New Year period. I serviced the bike last week, engine oil, oil filter and diff oil, I'll try and change the air filter tomorrow.

Not hard. The hardest part is getting out all the screws that surround the airbox (and getting them back in again).
Oh, and getting the plug off the connection on the top. Squeeze real hard. And don't forget to put it on again, otherwise the FI light won't go out. Or so I've heard... :whistle

No squeezing required Biggles. Just push down on the rearward end until it clicks, then the plug comes off really easy.

Air Filter done, not actually sure why you would have to take that plug off to do the air filter? I certainly didn't have to.

No- you're right. The front lifts without removing the top completely. I've only ever been there enroute the throttle bodies.
