A funny thing happened at the bike inspection!
I thought I recognised that registration. It turned out to be my old ST1100 that I sold in July 2009.
WITH 134,618 KM ON THE ODO!
It was bought by a guy down on the Gold Coast who on-sold it to an OzSTOC Member with IIRC 85,000 km or there-abouts.
That was before this Forum, but the buyer called me to ask about the bike, and in doing so, learned of the speedo adjustment which led to a discussion with the guy he bought it from.
The new buyer did some work on the bike, including replacing the timing belt, and later sold it to the current owner who had to replace the alternator which had quit.
So the upshot of that adventure is
1. Your sins will find you out.
2. The Forum is your friend.
3. It's a very well presented, maintained and rebuilt ST1100 which at $4000 is good buying, because it will do another 150,000 km without giving any trouble. It has a Moorehouse seat, new screen good Z6 tyres, as new Bestem topbox with brakelight and nil accident history (OK, it fell over twice while in my care, but at the standstill). And it has a very experienced speedo!
