So are your Johnny Reb boots to wear dancing?

These bike boots are over 30yrs old. They belonged to my brother who handed them down to me a number of years ago. Had them resoled a couple of years ago and had new heels fitted this year. Asked the boot repairer if it was worth while fixing and he said of course, would cost you $400 to buy boots like these again, still life in these old boots. Had saved my foot 3yrs ago when I slid out on the road with my foot caught under the bike. Tore the boot open and only had bad bruising on my foot. They have had 5 resoles and new heels. Like part of the family and one of my personal treasures.

Anyone else have a similar item? Something that has been with you so long, that you can't imagine living without it?

mine were like that. thought they would be unfixable, but after talking to the boot repairer, who were all female, told me the boot were worth repairing and were a good quality boots. They did a pretty good job with the repairs. will keep these boots until they fall off my feet, or I get buried with them on, probably on 'boot hill' ha,ha. :grin :thumbsup

So ummm..... where does one find a "cobbler" these days?

I've got some RJays that I really like, but are also victims of gravel rash and bitumen bite.       :'(

A quick restitch and maybe resole could be just the tonic!        :thumbsup

Cheers, Diesel

"Hallejulah Boot Repair", Albany Creek shopping centre.  He repaired a zip on my boots for $20 and can fix most things for less than $50.

Hi Diesel, your statement 'where do you find a cobbler' is valid. Only found one in all of Maitland NSW area that had a machine strong enough to repair my boots. Took a round of all the cobblers in my area to find them. Now that I am living in Whyalla SA, did the same round down here to find someone to repair them. Had to send them away (and missed them dearly) and buy temporary suitable boots to make do waiting for their return. Took 6 weeks to get them back (had to work through a third party) :well. Thought I had lost them forever,  :'( was a happy home comming on that day when I got them back. :thumbsup :grin
