fork assy

(1/1)

creeture3:
Hi folks, I have a question: I wish to change the oil in the forks  ( 1999 ST ABS etc., etc. ) , but I don't wish or need to disassemble the forks.

Now, if I undo the damper rod bolt, should the whole lot just slide out? I e.: the spring, damper rod etc., and then all I need to do is empty the fork, re-fill and slide the whole lot back in again ??

One othe r thing, what weight is the standard oil? Mr. Honda recommends SS7, whatever that is..................

Cheers.

Hi Shiney, I was more concerned about being able to compress the springs to remove the top collar, so as to remove/replace the spring. I have since disassembled the left fork and it was relatively easy to compress the spring.

Unfortunately I have rheumatism in each of my hands, and I was concerned about that, but it seemed fine on the left hand fork.

Looking around, it seems 10 wt oil,is the go ....................

Cheers
