Lovely crop of lucerne, bRock.  Wanna borrow a harvester?
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

That is looking the business, Brock.

Do you reckon sloping the shocks and the swing arms as you have might help keep reaction down?

I've got a feeling you're going to find it'll ride a treat and I'm watching for those plans.

Thats the idea PJ,

As obstructions will cause (hopefully) a front to rear movement to be taken up by the shocks, the amount of bounce should be reduced. The angle of the shocks are carefully calculated and constructed guess work to give good loading without being too hard. The suspension should hold 150Kgs per side static and give when a bounce is applied.  Also taken in to account was ride height, as I didnt want the chassis too high as that would limit the height of the box.

When finished, it should look something like this

Over here we are limited to 150kgs all up weight for a trailer so compared to many they are pretty
Lightweight but that weight figure so far for yours is encouraging.

When you are ready to licence your trailer, buy chain from a trailer place.
I took my AliLite over to get licensed today, it got knocked back because the safety chain didn't have the AS stamped in it.

Off to Martins Trailer parts tomorrow to purchase some chain, which I'll have to weld on to the drawbar.

One would like to think that someday the states will get their ideas together and be uniform across the board.

Malcolm,

The chain is to be bolted not welded. A welded chain will get another fail. Welding will weaken the hardened steel ( so they say).

Strange that.......

We bought a new 6x4 trailer two years ago with one safety chain which was welded to the draw bar. Every safety chain I've seen on trailers and vans are welded.

I have Just searched the standards, and up to 3.5 tonne chains can be welded. I was given duff gen

Kink to the standard  http://www.comlaw.gov.au/Details/F2007C00494

Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 62/01 - Mechanical Connections Between Vehicles) 2006

14.3.1.                          Safety chains must be permanently attached to the trailer.

14.3.1.1.                    Shackles are not permitted.

14.3.2.                          For trailer up to 3.5 tonnes ‘ATM’, the safety chain attachment can be by welding.

14.3.2.1.                    the weld must extend around 50% of the circumference of the link and the adjoining link must have free movement.

I guess it can depend on the inspection station, I doubt it would get through over the Pits, but an authorised inspection station could go through. I guess it comes down to how well the Inspectors know all the rules.

P.S. I hate gardening, but with the wind at the moment the gras/weeds will probably blow away

New Bike, Car Van dealers in SA can do registration from their site and includes used vehicles as well. They even have number plates on hand so they don't need to fo to the rego office to pick up a plate.

So do I Brock. My thoughts are 'if you can't do it with a brushcutter or roundup, it's not worth doing'.
My Grandfather said that the only flower worth growing was a cauliflower.
