One thing to note when removing the lead from the headlight bulb is .... You need to 'squeeze' the coupling and pull at the same time.

I fitted LED lights to my ST1300 on the weekend including the laser cut H4 adaptor, very frustrating job as the adaptor makes the globe sit proud and you cannot get the clips back on. I ended up removing the headlight from the side plastics without removing them (this was an experience) and removed the retaining pin and removed a bunch of material. This let me get the clips done up. Very happy with the result though yet to take her out for a night ride to test the lights properly yet.
These are the ones I ended up fitting:

I had the same problem with 1mm adapters.  Ended up going back to just removing a tab and putting the bulb in.
I used the Narva 120s- nice bright light.

I bought the same LEDs as Draco and tried them in my Nissan Patrol ute a few nights ago. They are bright and white but lack any depth when on high beam. The old Osram nightbreakers will be going back in and the LEDs consigned to the pile of old headlight bulbs :(.

One of mine failed after a week so I'm not sure about the quality of these globes. When I contacted the E-bay seller they tried to talk me into swapping to a more bike friendly version of the LED globes but as whey were about 1/10 the brightness I told them I wanted a replacement for the one I purchased. Worst part of the failure is that I was heading back home and had to drive for two hours at night with a popped fuse, the only lights I had was the high beam on the flasher  :||||. Was not happy.
Lucky Mr Plod did not catch me.

"notice how the light shines up"

That gives you low beam, to get a high beam one needs to have the light shining down with possibly the light shining up as well to give a better around coverage.  without light shining down into the bottom of the reflector you will not get much of high beam illumination. the better bulbs have at least 2, some 4, LED's - 2 low - on top, 2 high - on bottom. of a bulb assembly.

Old light only, low beam                                                                                                                                    Old light only, high beam

Hope this explains all

WOW WOW:
The new light looks like it is going to be better then the original LED ones :eek
And I thought the old lights were the best lights I had ever seen on a bike :fp

Now I just have to wait for mine to die then I too will get myself a set of them (Just have to remember to buy 2 as they are sold as individual lights)

Thanks for the report mate, I look forward to hearing about what you think of them when you have a chance for a decent night ride :thumbsup

Cheers
Shiney
