Just a reminder for those of you who live in or plan to visit one of those stupid states who insist on daylight saving:

I've never been a fan either.  It's probably why I leved in Queensland and Western Australia before contemplating coming to Adelaide.  Personally I wouldn't care what time they chose but wish they would stick to it.

In Queensland that equals longish sweeeeeeltering, high humidity evenings.

We don't have twilight like you do down south. It's dark by 6:30, so even with DLS, it would be dark by 7:30.

Where is Daylight Saving Time Most Beneficial?

Daylight Saving Time is the most beneficial for countries above and below the equator, but is less beneficial to countries near the equator and close to the Earth’s two poles. The areas near the equator see little change in the daylight hours they have throughout the year, while the drastic changes of day versus night in areas like Alaska or Norway render the effects of Daylight Saving Time moot.

Like Leo we don't have to put up with pretend time unless we need to ring someone in the pretend states and we still get plenty of daylight.

I definitely know about trying to get kids into bed at night when we lived in Cloncurry in western Queensland
10pm still daylight outside

Perhaps if the time zones were based on the middle of the state rather than the very edge of it then we wouldnt need daylight savings.
Most of us live by the clock so DS gives us a significantly better day than without it. Would be better if it lasted another couple of months though.

The West and Eastern states are mostly within there correct time zone unlike SA and NT who is out by 30 mins at GMT+9.5 instead of GMT+9. Over the past few years some in the business world have been trying to get us to align with the Eastern states. Bad enough now when it's dark at 5:30pm in mid winter.

Agreed Alan, SA is way out of wack. I thought the East and West states were further out of wack than they are though a 15 minute shift for both would be good. But I guess whole numbers are easier to work with.

I just wish they'd pick a time and stick to it.  As I wrote on another platform:

The wife will ask me to set her car clock. The bike wasn't wound forward six months ago so I shan't touch it. The gopros will be left alone as the mobiuses aren't connecting to the computer like they used to and synchronising the time. The alarm clock up stairs shouldn't be that difficult but knowing me I'll press the minute button by mistake and my OCD will kick in, I'll do my block pushing it another 59 times to get the minutes back to where it was before adjusting the hour. The dining room clock I'll wind back before realising it's the only one my wife can do by herself and she did before she went to bed thus having to wind it back again. I miss living in Brisbane.
