Title: clutch / gearbox oils??
Post by: spanner on September 14, 2016, 04:54:22 PM
Howdy,

Just wondering what the maintenance is for a St1100A in regards to clutch and gear boxes.

Should I be replacing oils?

If so does anyone have a handy 'how to ' guide?

Cheers,

S-panner

Clutch is simple, just use brake fluid, and do s fluid bleed/swap.

The gearbox oil is the engine oil, its easy to change. Just warm the engine, then ( with bike on the centre stand) remove the drain plug in the front oh the sump.

Replace the filter at the same time, (ROF135 Repco) its on the left side.

Sweet .....then the gear box oil is fine and dandy as I have been reasonably regular with that.

As far as bleeding the clutch ..... Is there any advice on the how to etc. I particularly love video tutorials but anything is good.

Thanks.

only other oil change to worry about is the final drive every 30,000 kms or so. uses standard 80/90 EP diff oil.

Couldn't find the ST but the Goldwing clip is the same process - just remember to go for a ride to warm the oil and place the bike on centre stand.
