Hi thrillseekers: fitted my Oxford heated grips today (never mind about the onset of summer!!)
All went mostly well except for:
# had to wear down the throttle tube in order to fit the grip. Must have removed at least .5 mm
# Oxford bracket for controller fouls the handlebar cover. It needs to be filed down by about 5mm.
# GRIPS ARE TOO SHORT!! There is a gap of about 5mm between the end of the grip, and the bar end weight on both sides, and between the grip and the handlebar block. Looks funny, but I will get used to it I am sure.Needs about another 10mm + on the grips.
Thought this might come in handy for others considering Oxfords.
Apart from the above, they work really well.....................

I had the same problem with the Oxford heated grips not being long enough on my old ST.
(I brought the Oxford Touring Heated Grips as they said that they fit the ST and being a touring bike this made sense to me, but they are too short :||||)
Anyway on the new ST I have installed the Oxford Adventure Heated Grips.
These also say they fit the ST (and they do) with the added bonus of being long enough to fit all the way to bar end weight :thumbsup

I'm sure you'll still love the ones you have when it gets cold :thumb and as for the gap, you could try cutting off a bit of the old grips to fill the gap maybe?

Just purchased Oxford grips for my ST1100 and noted they are short. Still in the box so I will swap for the Adventure grips. My problem is I currently have heated grips which have seen better days, throttle grip starting to split. The current grips have another plastic tube over the existing throttle tube, which is obviously glued. Any thoughts how to remove this tube without damaging the original throttle tube.

Try inserting a thin screwdriver underneath and then rolling it around, works with grips and should work for you providing it is rubber

unfortunately it is solid plastic about the same density as the original throttle tube.

I had the same problem, but I simply carefully cut the glued part and peeled it off the tube. To attach the Oxfords, I had to emery down the throttle tube a bit anyway

My heated grips become slightly loose when they are hot, so that may be a way to loosen them for removal.

I will try a heat gun and if that doesn't work I will go for the scalpel.

If you have a compressor, (The lager type with a reservoir, not the tyre inflation type) use a dust gut to loosen the grip. insert the long thin tube ( maybe a bit of vaseline to give slip) under the grip, and the squirt some air in. Maybe use a cable tie down one end to help seal and inflate.

Thanks for the help but my problem is not with the grip itself as I can cut that off. The problem is their is another plastic tube between the grip and the throttle tube, which no doubt to make the heated grips compatible with a 25mm throttle tube on the ST and of course it is glued.
