Excellent price at $300 fitted.  No one pays RRP, but that price beats all for PR3s.  Probably wouldn't go the extra $150 to get PR4GTs since the 3s are pretty good.

Will give them a call sometime after sunrise. Need a new rear for the 1100 and these should be ok if it's a 1300 OEM size.

$250 for the set is below the $300 average for one Bridgestone rear delivered from the US

The $300 is thanks to our impoverished dollar.
I suspect the $250 deal benefits from a stronger dollar a while back.  We won't see these prices again for a long time as the import costs flow through the market.
It's been reported retailers have been absorbing the depressed exchange rate for a while to remain competitive, but they can't do that indefinitely.

I had a look at JW in the US yesterday and the to my door price was $305 (including balancing beads) and add $15 for fitting at my local tyre dealer makes it $320 and that's for the GT spec tyre. The last tyre I had fitted was the basic T30 for $312 at the dealer in Port Augusta which only cost me $283 at my local tyre dealer a few months before.

The guy at MMM is going to call back re freight cost to here.

1300 rear is the next best option if there isn't an 1100 size in the tyre you want. The front is the same for the ABS model. The speed rating is the same for both with the 1100A needing a slight higher weight rated tyre because of the extra 10kg ABS system. Unless you're likely to exceed the maximum weight capacity of your 1100 then it's ok.

I've use a couple 170/60 T30 GT spec Bridgestone's before now and have had no problem. PR3s should be ok as well. The only issue I had was less clearance when passing the tyre past the ABS sensor but it will go in with a little care.

Total cost delivered to my door will be $340 for the set which is just almost a 2 for 1 deal. Should be able fix it up tomorrow.

ahhhhh ..... the coffers are going to be very empty for a while but at least they are going towards a consumable I KNOW I will need sooner or later!

They're a run out deal from the tyre maker probably because everyone is buying the PR4 now. Makes sense for the company to sell them at cost price or lower than to bin them and get nothing.

http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/passenger/care/age.aspx

How old is too old?

This is a subject of much debate within the tyre industry and no tyre expert can tell exactly how long a tyre will last. However, on the results of experience many tyre companies, including Bridgestone, warrant their tyres against manufacturing and material defects for five years from the date of manufacture. Based on their understanding a number of vehicle manufacturers are now advising against the use of tyres that are more than six years old due to the effects of ageing.

I would agree with much of your last paragraph Alan, but I woulndnt want a bike tyre that was three years old unless I was putting it straight on. And I am not needing tyres straight away.

Mine just arrived - Ordered on the 2nd and arrived on the 9th via Toll/Ipec.

Date code on tyre is 3914 so made maybe last week of Sept 2014 so about 17 months old for the rear

and 2814 for the front so about last week July 2014 or 18/19 months old.

Tread on the rear looks a little deeper than the Bridgestone: now to arrange the fitting

I was looking at the candy at Canberra Motorcycles today(new Vstrom 650 for 9990 r/a before any haggling ...but I'm holding my nerve for the new model pricing) Anyway reason for post , I noticed they have plenty of PR 3 fronts for sale @ $99 fitted if anyone needs a front tyre .
