The Ride Guide.. FNQ Touring Site
« on: October 20, 2012, 08:04:14 PM »
Just providing a link to a website covering interesting rides to do in the Far North. The site is being put together as part of my missus' PhD and will be gradually updated over time with more rides, photos and eventually videos (shot from my ST mostly).

Please check it out and see what there is to offer.  www.therideguide.com.au

People can upload their favourite rides to the site and as part of the update program they will appear in a 'your favourite rides' section, you can also send a piccie along with a description of the ride.

Lookin good BikeBear and will be good to see the vids

It would be neat to have a reference to a description of each ride plus a vid for every good ride around Aus,

Hey BB, love the site, looks good and promises to be very informative...but I have to ask; What subject for a PhD requires in-depth research for motorcycle rides??? and can I do it too???  :rofl :crackup
Cheers,

It's something to do with website benchmarking and creating a tool for website developers to run over their sites to check how they stack up against a long list of criteria.. that's the simple explanation.. I get the feeling it's probably a little more complex than that but when the missus tries to explain it my head hurts  :o :crazy

If you have any feedback please feel free to post it here or send it to the missus on the comments form on the website.

Tipsy,

The site is based on FNQ at the moment because that's where we are based. Ultimately the team would like to get ride descriptions from people all over Oz with pics and videos so it can become an Australia wide reference for bike touring.

On Ya BB
That will be cool as it really boils down to the fact that matters not what bike you are riding at the time, so long as there are good places to go cruising,

I now have a HD cam and might eve be able to contribute at a later date.(need to learn how to use it(properly))

The praise needs to go to my missus and her team, they're the ones that put the work in, I just get to ride around taking photos and videos, and editing a couple of ride write ups.. as well as being chief proof reader.   :grin :thumb

Hi All,

Just an update on 'The Ride Guide' website. More videos are now up and the layout has been revised. Please feel free to provide feedback or comments, apparently there is also a forum module for questions/comments.

Cheers,
BB
