So heres one for all you sena specialists
Ive got an sr10 that was mounted on the ST
it never worked because i couldnt transmit
took it off put it on the wing
found that the PTT extension lead was stuffed straight out of the box.
so worked around it and jury rigged the UHF and sena loose to prove it worked
it did
ive got 2 patch leads one from yorkie and the other from dale mclean - both worked fine
anyway - i hard mounted the radio and sena in the boot ran power etc etc
tested it to make sure it worked - it did and left it alone while i ordered a new PTT extension lead
well the lead arrived today and i didnt even get to try it because the uhf controls freeze up and the sena wont trigger the PTT
this happens on both leads but you get different side actions ie on one the instant channel is selected and the other the call signal sounds
the radio (a little uniden) works fine i tried the OME mic and no probs
i set the default button on the sena and reset factory settings
no good
the only other thing ive done is shorten the UHF power leads and the coax to loose the slack
any ideas
-
On the coax, check that you don't have a shield wire stand shorting across to the centre wire where you shortened it. I'm assuming you did that at the radio end.
Double check you have good connections on the shortened power leads. If there is a bad connection, there won't be enough current to run the radio correctly.

I would need to see the units, and do some checking to help fix the problem you have. Probably something simple like crossed/shorted wires
-
so i put a meter across the antenna plug and got an open circuit
so thats a good thing - I think
re did the power lead all soldered minimum joins
like i said radio works fine on the oem mic
hook it up to the sena and zip
thats with both patch leads
sent a message to sena helpdesk
not expecting any reply

Hey Stu
contact Steve at adventure cams in Lathlain. He is the Sena distributor and may have some ideas. The Sena forums are usually good but not on individual issues like yours.
Cheers :grin

the plan is quindanning via maybe Pemberton. :runyay Radio is still humming along so it may be in the inner workings. :think1 I will get Pezzz to talk to Yorkie and distract him while I take his off and try it. :whistle
The good thing is I can still hear them talking about me. :OldMan
See you on the road :grin
