Title: Headlight access
Post by: spanner on November 03, 2015, 05:08:29 PM
I seem to have blown both low beam bulbs.

Are there any tips out there how to access the head lights and or replace the bulbs.

Whilst I am in there is there any particular type of light I should use?  They are OEM bulbs and pretty crappy on low beam.

1100A is easier to gain access from below the headlight. There's an access panel that is held in by two screws. You may also need to turn the steering to full lock to give enough room behind one light then opposite lock for the other side.

I use standard H4 60/55 watt globes with an adapter ring as OEM H4 globes have different location tabs.

As Alan said easy enough to access globes.....H4 60/55 are the way to fly, any of the German globe manufactures are the way to go......Osram, Phillips even the top shelf Narva. Keep under 4000k colouring.

In halogen above 4000k  is rare and may look funky but you are losing light distance/penetration?

You can go the rings as recommended or *carefully* trim the bottom 2 tags on the globe and locate into the holder  :like

My 2 cents  ;-*

Or as I did on the ST1300 bend the bottom two tags back for a tight fit.

I should add that I now use the Osram H4 Night breakers on mine.
