Title: Dragged out the pushbikes
Post by: StinkyPete on October 17, 2019, 04:31:12 PM
Chris and I dusted off the pushbikes and went for a ride along the Amy Gillett Bikeway today.  See https://www.walkingsa.org.au/walk/find-a-place-to-walk/amy-gillett-bikeway/ (https://www.walkingsa.org.au/walk/find-a-place-to-walk/amy-gillett-bikeway/)
It was 30km round trip and I haven't ridden a bike that far in about 50 years.   Very pretty ride but I'm totally buggered.    :H
I wonder if I will be able to walk tomorrow....   :fp

There was a time I cycled everywhere.  That came to an end when I moved to Cairns and it was just too hot.  I dusted off my own bike in 2015 when the kwaka was off the road after hitting a roo and did some cycling.  I can't recall being sore (I probably was) but I did have bizarre sunbrun marks on my head where the helmet let bis of sun in.

At Old Noarlunga's bridge (2015) before it washed away by torrential rain in 2016.

Same here but I was only when I was 14,15 and it was nothing to ride up to about 150 km a week and less than half the distance of a kid up the road from us you used to train at 400 km a week for racing.

I still have or should it be, I now have an 18 speed mountain bike which might see use a few days a year.

Heather has an e-bike and it does have a doggy trailer that I can hitch up and use for shopping in town but the ST is a better image.

Tammie has her e-bike and uses it most of the time to and from her place to ours, the shop and library. Sometimes I take Heather's bike and go with her just to give the bike a bit of a run.

Doc says I should be doing more exercise but it's to easy to turn the key on the big red Honda and get passive exercise instead.

Looking at the map it looks like part of the old train line up that way

Told my Doc that I rode 350 Ks a week, he stopped smiling when I also mentioned the 1100cc engine

Wot?

Mmmmm ....... must get back on the bicycle again.  Been about 6 or 7 years since any serious riding, two or three time to and from work a week (only 15km each way), weekend rides working up to home to Frankston and then Mornington and back, riding mate said, "How about we do Around the Bay in a Day?"  We did three times, 210km in 8 hours, backside wasn't the only thing that was sore.

Yeah 8 hours on this (except for standing on the pedals on some steep hill), will do that:

Puts some of the comments about uncomfortable motorcycle seats into a different perspective, aye?
