What a wonderful initiative to have Saaz's bike housed in a motorcycle museum.   It provides a chance for all motorcyclists to see his bike, read his story, and honor his memory.     This outcome may actually be a blessing, as a "Club" bike creates all kinds of issues which can be difficult to overcome.   John's beloved ST1100 can remain the way that it was when Saaz was riding it, and how we who ever rode with him remember it.

A big  "WELL DONE" to those  who have put in the effort of assessing John's bike's mechanical state, and negotiating with family, friends and the museum.    ++   As an OzSTOC member, this initiative has my unquallified support and endorsement.

Agree with everyone -impossible not to in light of the excellent outcome.
We're actually fortunate the museum is willing to house it.  I deduce it means they don't already have a bike like it, since space is a major consideration, and the place is already very big and well stocked.
Congrats to all negotiators and stake-holders.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Yep, great outcome. Great to hear his bike will live on, and in the same vein it was for all those who knew John.

What an awesome way to display the legacy of Saaz. I note with interest that Honda is not listed as a brand on display at the museum. If that is true, then that makes this is even more significant decision. Bravo.  :clap

I have not been there for a few years, not since I donated my ex-police Yamaha XJ900.
When I was there I saw lots of Hondas, in particular, Honda 4s and the various iterations of the Gold Wing.
I'll have a good look in a few weeks time when I drop off my 2002 ST1100P.

You might like to mention to the owners that they have omitted one of the 'Big 4' Jap brands from their web site blurb.  :fp  Thought it was a stretch that they wouldn't have any.

Thanks for your overwhelming support everyone, this really is a good outcome for the bike, the club and the lasting memory of saaz's.

Pockey & I will be moving the bike the first weekend in July up to Nabiac for its long term display. The bike will be displayed with an attached scroll acknowledging saaz's contribution to Australian Motorcycling.

An OzSTOC RTE is being planned by the NSW RTE coordinators for early 2017 at the museum in Nabiac.

On behalf of the old my-mc community, now rejoined on my-mc-phoenix.com, allow me to commend you all for this wonderful initiative.
John joined my-mc.com on 25 Aug 2004. He posted a stunning total of 3176 posts, the last in July 2015.
That gave him the rank of “Bacon butty legend”.
Chris has kindly offered to put our logo next to OzSTOC's and other communities John was a member of. We thank you for that gesture.

saaz's ST1100 loaded up for its final road trip into a little piece of history at the National Motorcycle Museum in Nabiac NSW.

Unloaded out the front of the Museum.....the ST will go on perminant display with a few surprises instore for its visitors in the coming weeks  :whistle

The ST will be in good company at the National Motorcycle Museum with famous bikes like Tex O'Grady's and Bundy's Hybussa.....You will learn loads more about these Aussie characters in time  :whistle

We will advise when the bike is on display in all its glory....worts & all, just as it was ridden by saaz.

A new thread will be started in time where you can post your picture with saaz's ST and tell us about your experience at the National Motorcycle Museum.

Interestingly the owner and instigator of the museum Brian has very recently purchased his first ST1100 as a daily rider.....he owned a Honda motorcycle dealership many years ago in Canberra.
