Speedo Drive.. out to lunch..
« on: March 23, 2013, 04:14:05 PM »
So I get the wheel bearings, seals, orings, cush drive all back together, head off to a training course for work on the bike and the speedo stops working, hmmm.. need to check that Saturday arvo. Just pulled it apart and found the nylon gear inside the speedo drive box has been lunched. Looks like it has jammed and the metal worm gear has chewed it up and destroyed it  :'(
I guess I must not have aligned it properly when I put it together (done it heaps of times but sh!t happens). I also notice the speedo cable is damaged on the end and it is cracked where the screw goes in (has been for a while). So I ordered a new speedo cable off Ebay and I found a wrecker who has a 97 model on his site so hopefully he'll have the complete speedo drive available.  Why does this always happen when you're getting the bike ready for a trip? :think1
