Leaky front shocker seal

Bike goes back in to shop to have RH shocker looked at again on Monday. All new seals/rebuilt only last July, so something is amiss. Leak became apparent on trip to Balranald RTE last month. Oh yeah, ordered new flip up helmet last week as well, to replace maverick Nolan that took leave of my head and went touring on its own.

Could excessive wear in the bushes cause early seal failure?

Just returned from bike shop... seems there is a small piece of metal embedded in the top 'o' ring seal, which has caused it to partially split and allowed fluid to seep past. Could possibly have been in a contaminated grease pot, that was used to lube the O ring during last repair?
Bike will be returned today after lunch.

for times when I might notice a bit of oil or an unusual smear on my fork tubes. Well I used to use them, as I've got those neoprene slider cleaner things on, and they work really well, but prior to that, I found that often, the first sign of a leak was often just a bit of crud impinging on the seal, and the seal mate usually allowed me to remove the offending crud. They don't look like much, and would be pretty easy to make at home, but I have to say, for the purpose they are for, they often work well. Not sure about jagging a bit of metal out of the top oring seal when installed, but for almost anything else distorting the seal, they seem to often fix the problem.

Bush guides were replaced as well during forks servicing last July, leak was caused by foreign piece of metal which damaged O ring seal. Metal looks like swarf material, drill debris.Its about 3 mm long, twisted.

True Story:

Amongst the remains of my bike swept off the road after the accident, was the 13 mm socket.  I picked it up out of the gutter and put it into the tank bag.  It has since been reunited with the rest of the set.

It gave me a good laugh at the time.  As shiney said, it is a bit of an excessive way to go about retrieving the socket.
