NZ Rob's Half Oz Trip
« on: April 16, 2015, 07:37:58 PM »
I shipped my ST over from New Zealand in March for the 2015 National Rally and a bit of a ride afterwards. Here’s some photos of the 17-day ‘afterwards' bit…
Thanks guys for a fantastic 2015 National Rally and the riding companionship both up to Toowoomba and then on to Esk.
Total distance 11,200 Km
534 litres of petrol
$825 petrol (includes obligatory coffee and pie at each roadhouse stop)

First was the ride from Windsor up to Toowoomba via the Putty Rd with the excellent company of BikerJimBob and JohnnyYTed

A fantastic Rally. Thanks for the organisation guys.

Nude swim at Crystal Creek, Townsville. Won't need a shower for another few days now...

Up Mossman way - Very nice indeed

And not bad accommodation either

Heading towards Mt Isa in 40 degree heat

So you do get water here sometimes

Nothing much else to see as you enter the NT

Yipeeee!

Now let’s go really fast!

It’s not the size that matters…

The devil really does have big marbles

Apparently there’s a bump as you cross the Tropic (or is that the Equator?)

Check out Kings Canyon? – Naah!

Have a look at one of the other gorges instead

A typical night on the road. Mate you've got some big bugs in this country!

Pretty early morning start

SA/NT had the best border crossing display

Coober Pedy long-drops

Could really use a corner right now

Still no corners in sight

Salt Lake selfie thanks to a passing motorist

What a relief! I was ever so worried about what to do if I caught up with another vehicle out here…

Woomera – A rocket parked beside some space junk

Dead cow beside roadside flower arrangement. There's gotta be a story behind that

Hmmm. Not sure what the value in this photo was

Falls Creek - Up into the Snowy Mountains to bypass the Melbourne Easter traffic

And on to Mt Buffalo and the hills behind Bright

Almost has a New Zealand feel about it

Last night in the tent on the way back to NSW

And almost back to Sydney again

A really cool 17-day trip!!

Rob, thanks very much for a great set of photo's of the trip.
It brings back some memories of the roads I drove & rode going back a few more years than I would care to admit.
The quality of the photo's was great as well.

Thanks

Great report Rob. Like your photos.

You have more discipline than me. I find it hard to stop for a photo.
