:blu13 As you may remember i did a "How to" regarding metalgear brake pads. That was at 178,757 k. the bike has now done 181,000 and  Wot thuh :eek went to wash the bike and generally check it over. and surprise surprise NO pads left AGAIN, after 2,243k AND I DON'T RIDE HARD OR FAST?????

I have called metalgear, the GIRL is talking to her manager and will call back?? :whistle :well

I have a question? "are front pads different in thickness than the rear??

According to metal gear the pads are the same front and rear for up to year 2007. http://metalgear.com.au/view_model_details.php?model_id=4256
From 2008 the front pads change and the rear stays the same. http://metalgear.com.au/view_model_details.php?model_id=11392

The 1300 front pads carried over from the 1100A but the 1100 has a thicker rear pad http://metalgear.com.au/view_model_details.php?model_id=4253

I checked Partzilla and I find the 1300 rear has a different part number to the front so quite likely the rear also is supposed to have a thicker pad as well.

It's quite possible the 1100 and early 1300 OEM pads are identical but made by a different part supplier hence the part number change (common practice).

Even with the front pad in the rear it shouldn't wear that quick

added:-

1100 meaning 1100A from 1996 (1100AT) and newer

I had the same problem on my VN900 pads went to bare metal and scored my disc after 1500Ks metalgear tried to get out of honoring the warranty so now I don't deal with them I'd rather pay a bit more and get quality.

HONK:
Lots of us use Metalgear with no problems at all.
You need to check your brake system out especially check for rear brake drag. Check that the rear calliper is not over heating. Try it after a short ride with few brake applications or put her up on the centre stand and rotate the rear wheel, it should spin fairly easily.
Mine was running around 50 degrees hotter then the front, had to overhaul the calliper.
