I hope to be there to meet some old and new faces, but will be on 4 wheels. It's less than a 3 hour drive from here, barring time out to dodge Emus/Kangaroos.

I haven't been there since 2006 and all was well then; so what's recently changed?

I saw lots and lots of pot holes with signs saying "uneven surfaces" because erecting a sign is easier than fixing the road.  That was easter last year.

A definite maybe! Will confirm in a couple of days as I'm relying on hearing from friends at Wirrega and Casterton (Julie will be joining me and I need to make the trip as appealing as possible i.e. lots of stops and chats and cups of tea and staying with old friends).

edit:
I haven't planned my course of action either side of that yet but the 16th will probably be arrive in the afternoon, unload and take a look around town, on the 17th do my own thing around the Grampians and the RTE lunch/dinner on the 18th.

My options for after that are open at this stage but I am considering going to Melbourne to get a nengajō photo of the Fairfield Industrial Dog Object in Fairfield.  A nengajō is a Japanese style new year card which usually has a design related to the animal of the year.  Next year will be the year of the dog.  This was my 2015 equivalent (year of the sheep)
