Danae (BlueOwl) has recently moved to SA to finish high school, staying with my brother in Coromandel Valley.  She may well come along to some of the closer RTE's in the cage, and hopefully I'll be able to time some of my visits to her with RTEs too  :grin

Saturdays are open 10am to 4 pm - No need to book but If I let them know how many is coming they'll arrange a table for us. I have a copy of the menu which I'll post up later.

It'd be great to see BlueOwl at one of our RTE's.   :thumb

I went to the Finniss General Store Café today.  It was pretty good.  It is up for sale so could change hands in the meantime.
I just contacted the cafe via Facebook and it's not up for sale - need to make sure before I posted the ride.

15 - 16th Sept 2018 - Meningie Hotel/ Nurrung SA O/nite RTE

Feedback wanted;

Nurrung as an overnight and Meningie were suggested and due to their closeness I though putting them together as for over night RTE might work.

I'll give it a few weeks before going with the most popular option. Have another idea?; lets us know.

A few options;

Sat lunch at Meningie and BYO food for Sat evening at Narrung - we can bring a couple camping stoves with the trailer for plus ice box and ice

Toss the cooking all together and meet at Meningie hotel for dinner (evening meal) then ride over to Narrung for the night - take any BYO food you might need at Narrung - again we can supply a stove or two for any tea or coffee needed plus the ice box and ice.

Set up camp as people arrive during the afternoon and a group ride to Meningie for dinner  - not sure how safe the area is and would stuff go missing if no one is there?

  :bl11.   I wouldn't leave the campsite unoccupied to go to the pub in the evening unless someone was willing to stay behind.I would be happy to volunteer .2pub meals in a day would be a bit much for me .there are fire pits at the campground and firewood is available at the ferry to purchase .so anyone who wants to do a bit of bush cooking could on the campfire ,including breakfast.We may all smell like a bunch of hoboes at the end but a brisk ride may get rid of the stale smoke!

I wasn't thinking of two hotels meals in a day either.

Meet at the hotel for either lunch or dinner (dinner or tea for some of us) then over to Narrung.

If you do lunch at the hotel then you need BYO food for Narrung.
If you do dinner at the hotel you then only need BYO for what you need over night and the morning - toss the cooking

Not much feed back for this one.

For us it's a little to far for a day trip (700km return) with Heather's recent shoulder operation though not impossible so an overnight RTE makes sense for us.

Might just make this one a day RTE for lunch at the hotel and just mention Narrung for those who wish to make an overnighter out of it.

I'll give it another week before I post the ride up.
