I thing you better change your tow hitch to  one that has a 360degree ball socket for safety sake.

Haven't started mine yet not until next year.

The problem with an articulated hitch is that it doesnt comply with Aust standards, and can be a problem getting through rego.

I do plan to make/fit some thing tho...

Pictures Please...

Any ideas gratefully received.

I want to do a trailing arm suspension as well, but it depends on getting a pair of small coil over shock some where

The bloke that made mine used the same hitch as shown , and I have seen the bike towing the trailer on some weird angles following it through some 'high' :law speed corners and it has no dramas.

Hey Brock I'd throw in some shockies on also unless you want the "Harley" bounce. :rofl

Will be good to see the finished product bloke.  Good way to pass the time if you're not riding, making extras/Farkles.

Hi Tack,

I plan on sourcing some bike rear shocks, with the coils springs, no way would I be running on the rubber alone.

I've had mine fully loaded leaned over at "good angles" too & quite good speeds if they are loaded right you won't have troubles.

Thanks for that Scarp, I'm sure the guys at the Pits would fail the trailer for having a welded fitting in a bolt on device. Not that I couldnt engineer something suitable (If I had a lathe)

No worries I know what you mean, I am surprised that the safety chains are attached by shackels yet were passed at inspection BTW I did not build this one it came up for sale & was too good to knock back  :grin

I had an opportunity to buy a second hand Classic trailer (the large one) last week for $1400.00 but unfortunately I've been paying out too much lately to be able to afford to buy it :-(((

I don't really need one at the moment, but 4 of my riding buddies have trailers, 2 have Classics and 2 have home made trailers and we're looking at doing some camping weekends soon so I'm sure I'll be able to make use of one in the future.

This particular one was green........not my colour at all!!
I would have had to paint it........now if it would have been white.......or even black :runyay
There are many paths to the top of the mountain.....but we all need to find our own way!

Work has started on the frame.

Just gotta stick these bits together

Should look a bit like this

A bit of form work to make sure everything is square.

makes for tight joints

A bit of glue

A bit more form work for the other end

A bit more glue and this is the result.

A bit of grinding and a bit more welding to do to morrow, and then to design and build the suspension.

Trailing arm (and clamps)

Still have to work on the hinges, and find shocks.

Still measuring, designing, and doing the drawings as I go. Of course the reworking as I come up with new ideas as I go. So far used up three rolls of flux cored  mig wire, about 6 mtrs of 25mm SHS, 3 mtrs 50x25mm RHS and 2 mtrs of 50mm SHS, and 4 stub axles ( 2 were the wrong shaft size and its too late to change them after they have been welded)

If needed, I have an idea to make an articulated hitch, the local trailer parts place  has shafts and bushes that are suitable.

Any one have a 2nd hand towbar  for sale to suit ST1100.
