Greetings!
Just wanted to share another farkle, DIY driver backrest.

$29.00 incl postage (arrived within 1 week) yes, I know the store name sounds very, very odd....
Gate Hinge from Bunnings
4 mm x 70 mm Galvanized flat mid-steel from bunnings
Assorted bolts, washers, spring washers, 2 blind nuts
tools:
electric drill, 10 mm drill bit, propane torch to heat and bend mid-steel, soldering iron to sink blind nuts into plastic base, locktite, socket for bolts, 6 mm staples (important not longer)
photos attached should explain the process better than boring you all to death....
The steel base mount is attached to the pillion seat, under the factory foam and bolted with 3 bolts.
The backrest can be quickly bolted on or off, without effecting the look of the bike as the "stump" is hidden neatly between the seats gap.
This setup may not suit every one, it will restrict "larger" pillions slightly (I ride solo) due to the thickness of the backrest.
This is just my way of making a cheap and simple backrest, I don't have metal fabricating tools i.e. metal press and the like, but am sure some of the craftsmen here will make one much more elegant than mine.
I will test ride next week... now if I could just mount that 50 inch LED TV, I have the perfect spot for the remote and bowl of chips.... :think1

That does look good.
Quick question: With your backreat mounted on the pillion seat. How easy is it when remove the seats, fitting the seats back together?
When I jam the front seat into the lowest notch the pillion seat take a little fiddling to get into its notches.

Hi marcus. I have the sargent seat in front and stock in back. The rear seat tab fits easily OVER and inside the driver seat...not difficult.

Brilliant Zevk, well thought out and nicely finished, looks like a professional fit out..........How do you find the Sargent seat? I'd be interested to know if you sit a little lower to the ground or is it similar to the standard seat in height?
