We are pleased to announce the launch of the OzSTOC Ride Map and Calendar! :runyay
HOW IT WORKS:
- Follow the link below to open the OzSTOC Ride Calendar and Map;
- Zoom in to a region, and click on an icon;
- A window opens up with a brief explanation of the ride, its location, and date;
- You can also reference rides from the list of the left hand side.

:wink1 As long as I work for a living and volunteer for OzSTOC, there are bound to be delays, points missed, and questions unanswered. :rofl
In saying that - thanks for the input - I think this will evolve to be a fantastic resource, and even sought after from other forums.
@Whizz- thanks mate - I'll need input from Members so that I can update and keep current the map. I sometimes miss RTE posts and this is why it wouldn't appear, so a nudge is good.
@Shaun - mate, I experimented with trying to link the forum notification of an event to the 'pin' on the Map, Didn't work - but I have a cunning plan.... so stay tuned. But this will have to do (the link to the forum info, as drawing routes would take 22.67345% of my day, and that is time I cannot give at this moment. There is normally a google maps link in the forum info though, so I will test.
Keep suggestions coming as we will end up with the bestest resource ever!

I wasn't even suggesting that it was you that did it. I was more thinking along the lines of people submitting .kml files of the routes they have for their RTE's etc and you import them to the map. I think there might be such a feature, but I haven't explored it fully.

OK - as far as I can make out, you have the option of linking to a URL in your profile...
You could use this to link to your personal map - but you would ALL need to have a Google account/log in.
Feel free to kick off, and we'll see what happens from there. The Middleton Ride is a great starting point.

This google account stuff - is it possible to have a generic - "Oztocsmaps" or something and circulate the password so everyone can log in and add to it?
Then again it would have too many people accessing it some days.

While your walking around with thought bubbles, (people will wonder what you're doing) here's another.
Using google break it down into States. ie OstocmapQld.
That would mean the number of users with a password wanting entry at anytime would decrease a bit.
But if the password for the accounts was the same for all States it would allow those going on longer trips to tap into the different knowledge bases.

There's another option here too... motowhere. Here's a link to a 3 public routes I created as an example.

The thing with this is it's motoring in general, anywhere in the world, and you can search by location, road surface, visibility, police enforcement, etc.

I can save my routes in google maps as KML files and add them to google earth but how do you do it in maps?

OK - I have finally updated all the OzSTOC RTEs on the Ride Map and Calendar - see link above.
Remember that it is interactive, so click on a destination marker to reveal more detail about the ride. There is also a link back to the pertinent Forum Link for that ride.

Diesel, how about some rides in the Central West N.S.W we have some of the best back roads you will ever find & no cops to boot!! Starting at the Rose Gardens Cafe [Cowra } you can go in any direction & find some GEMS, Re. Bakery's, Pubs, Motor Museum's, Top Dams, Arts & Crafts Shops, Cheap Accomdation & just about anything that takes your fancy.
It would be great to catch up with some fellow ST Club Members, I have given just about all my cards out but not many Club Members out my way. Cheers Candywine. :hatwave :rd13

The best way to get a ride organised Candywine is to propose one your self and post it up with a time frame. Then those that are interested willrespond and timings can be finalised.
Otherwise, Diesel, Streak and Saaz (well maybe not Saaz) will be diverting time away from work to organising. We know how much people love to work....

That ride map is fantastic Gadget, I have used it many times. :like
Handy for planning an Ozstoc event with a FarRide or IBA.
Don't wish to :hijacked but, I'm looking at doing an IBA to the Nationals this year, just an flying visit, see some people :grin and then return (work gets in the way)

Seriously though, look down through the list on the left and look for "Sat 27-28 Jun 2015 Gulargambone Caravan Park" click on that and it should highlight the Gulgarambone RTE/Overnighter. :thumb
They should all be in chronological order.
You can also click on each icon to bring up info on it and the link back to the relevant thread on OzSTOC.
If it is not there try refreshing the page, it could be as saaz says, a cache issue.
