OzSToc Blanket Ride
« on: April 18, 2016, 09:12:47 PM »
:runyay Announcing the Inaugural OzSToc Blanket Ride  :hatwave

Why - Well our member PiSTop (Jeanette) is an Area Manager for ST Vinnies. Last year her patch, which covers a large area of NSW from Lake Cargelligo to Tumut including West Wyalong, Temora, Cootamundra, Young and Harden, experienced a real shortfall of blankets for those that needed them  :eek  :well

They had a stockpile built up that was depleted half way thru winter, leaving them with no blankets to hand out to those who trying to get through our winter.  >:() Winters here drop to -7 or -8 and run from 1st weekend in June to 1st weekend in Sept  :o  :fp

:think1 The plan is to help prevent that same shortfall from keeping people in need from being cold this year  :rockon

How - The fee for attending the Blanket Ride is  :whistle A Blanket or as many Blankets as you can donate, carry on your bike or in your vehicle or trailer or truck  :runyay
When - This years Blanket Ride is at the RTE at Neville  4 & 5th June - http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=10097.0 :thumbs

Logistics -
1) Strap a blanket or three onto your pillion seat,  :clap
2) Throw some blankets into your trailer,  :clap
3) Pile up the blankets in your car or truck,  :clap
4) Organize a whip around your work Mates to donate a Blanket to the cause :clap
5) If your bringing a vehicle put your hand up to be the collection point in your area so riders not attending the RTE can drop off blankets to assist a great cause  :rockon
6) If your interstate look at using the OzSToc courier system to move blankets around the country to Neville.  :thumb
7) Make a monetary donation - Details below,

Wrap - This will be an annual event as we look to help those less fortunate than us. Can the ride co-ordinators for each state and territory look at state discussions on organising Blanket donations and how we move them to the central donation point.

If you cant attend and would like to make a monetary donation towards purchasing blankets here are the details:-
St Vinnies
BSB 062786
Acct 000014760
Please put OzSToc 253 in the description so the money is allocated to the right area.

As riders we know what its like to ride in cold conditions. That is only a temporary condition, as we usually end up somewhere warm each night - Now imagine not being warm in weather down to -7 or -8 night after night for months  :eek

We can make this project work and help those in need. Its over to you, my friends, to bring this one home. :rockon ++

Sicman, Abe, ST2UP are putting our hands up to be collection points for receiving Blankets.

Yours Faithfully

Abe & Sicman & PitSTop

We have already put aside a few blankets here at home and will take the car to Neville if more blankets appear......so more than happy to be a collection point or perhaps pick up along the way.

A great cause worth throwing your support behind  :like

Great thinking there PitSTop  :thumbs

Have a couple of blankets already washed (no holes) ready to go.

Happy to be a collection point, and convey them to Neville.

Are there any specific types of blankets that are preferred material wise ?
Seeing as i will be buying them new there is the opportunity to get the warmest most practical item.

PitSTop says any good quality blanket, clean without holes, new or 2nd hand will be gratefully appreciated. She says if you wouldnt use it why would you expect someone down on their luck to use it :-)

If you are not in a position to attend the Blanket ride but would still like to help out, you can mail blankets to us and we will add them to the pile.
:CB-- Address to Tony & Jeanette, PO Box 47 West Wyalong NSW 2671 (or 33 Church St if they need a physical address)

With nearly 1000 members one blanket each would help a lot of people this year  :thumb
