Cyclone Debbie
« on: March 30, 2017, 07:31:23 PM »
Here's hoping that all our OzSTOC members and friends are safe and well in the aftermath of Cyclone Debbie.  Please let us know how you all are. And if any one of our brothers or sisters is need of a helping hand, please let us know. :Blow

Hey AZZ & fellow OzSTOCers... we're happy to be safe, well and relatively unscathed, despite being so close to the centre of the 'clone... Kate has a blog and keeps her followers updated... her posts are in date order from a few days before Debbie, until today...

TC Debbie has been one of the big, bad ones and is still making a nuisance of herself down south... we hope that everyone stays safe. Cheers, John and Kate.

The forecast 100 kph winds for Brisbane didn't eventuate, nor the midnight storms.  Lots of local flooding from 200+ mm of rain.  Further north, Bundaberg took a lot more of the diminishing furious winds and rain.
All schools closed in the SE today, and barely necessarily tomorrow.  The only reason I can see for closing Brisbane schools tomorrow is the possibility of some water over a few roads.  Today's closure was warranted in the heavy rain and strong winds.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Many schools were flooded or access roads to them were still flooded today. There was also the risk of debris, damage and downed power lines at some schools.

Brisbane Airport was still getting gusts of 60+ km/h today.

A few pix for those interstate.  These are roads often ridden by me for recreation.
