Since I couldn't get a pr3 I fitted a dunlop road smart. At 10,000 it had cupped and now at 12,000 the leading edge of the tread block has a definite lip effect. Can't see it getting the 20k plus the pr3 gave me.

Best I could get out of my Roadsmart 11 was about 16,000Km, but they were a lot cheaper than Michelin.

Forgot the pic lip effect is easily seen

Just ease up on the leaning, Paul. Get a bit of wear on the top of the tyre as well as the edges. :grin

That pic is about what my Bridgestone T30 GT is like at just over 7,500 km

Stop leaning? I'm in
tassie

This is taken 250km after the one first posted here. I do not think it will last another 200km. Thing is I am in strahan, tasmainia. Have to start ringing round.
This wear might have something to do with being overweight. As my child bride and all her gear is with me I might be 1 kilo over.

St1100 or St1300? What pressures are you running?
-
I always ran 50psi in my rear Roadsmart, two up with load.

:hatwave :runyay

Best tyre on the market for ST1100

44 psi on 1100 bike with 1300 tyre 170/60. Perhaps I had better up it to 50 psi.
ta to those replied. Getting new tyre in burnie in 2 days should be ok till then
-
Yep if you are running two up with a load then 48 would be better, 50 if you tow a trailer as well. Young Diesel would be running 60 :o but he got 29K off a set of tyres if I remember rightly

I'm on my second set of Roadsmarts, got 10,500 on rear with a bit left on it. Front was changed with 13,000 on it.
This set looks like being changed at the same mileage. Just finished a trip over the east, did Bells line, Putty, Byalong valley and Snowy's
the sides on mine look pretty similar. Tyre mileage has a lot to do with the way you ride, I like gassing it up a bit coming out of corners my mate doesn't so much and his tyre had very little side wear.

Dunlop changed this morning for michelin pr2. Had ordered pr3 2 days ago. It was sent to wrong shop. Settled for pr2. Can't afford to wait. 11,000km compared to michelin's 20,000 plus. Now for our last week in tassie.

I had good success with PR2s on the ST1100, around 15,000kms which is average for me. Others may get more.
