PR2's
« on: March 11, 2012, 01:23:33 PM »
For those of you who are wondering about the life of the Michellin PR's
here is a picture of mine after 25,000 km's of two up touring.
The bitumen up in North Qld is always hot and the stones are fairly course.

Now off to Ye Olde Tyre Shoppe  :rd13

Gee, thats good distance. Last PR2 on the rear of an ST11 I saw was toast at 13,000kms (as in down to the cords).  I have some PR2s to put on sometime so will be interesting to see how they compare.  13,000kms is the best I have gotten so far from Avon Ultra 2s but Shinko Verges will go a bit above that

As you can see the rear tyre is absolutely shagged.
We settled on 40/42 psi for tyre pressures.
The ride was a bit harsh but the tyres didn't move around underneath us in corners.
Next set are Pirelli Angel ST's.
I would not hesitate to recommend PR2's for an ST1300.
If anyone is getting PR3's, the rear tyre comes in a 'B' series, which is supposed to last longer.

It's unbelievable the shit that happens up here.
Got my rims back and the bloke has fitted the wrong tyres.
Right size but wrong brand - Metzler Interact Z8's.
Where are my tyres?
Sorry I forgot to tell you there was a two week wait.
WTF? Oh well, German instead of French.
Anyway I didn't get the PR3's because no one would fit tyres unless I bought the tyres from them too.  :-(((
Next time I will order two sets of tyres from O/S and drive back to the Towers where country people are friendly.
Townsville: big on choice - small on service.  :cuss
