2021-11-21 Wunkar Ride To Eat

(1/2) > >>

:
I set off from home in the dark with the intention of being in Murray Bridge at sunrise.  For once I actually timed it well.  The idea was to refuel there and have breakfast at the On The Run before doing to Karoonda Highway to Loxton, and back to Wunkar from there.  No one came to serve me at the OTR so left without eating.  It's still november but the christmas decorations are out.

The railway bridge as seen from the other side of the river.

After seeing Johnny's drone at the Quorn RTE I went out and bought the same model.  I've flown it a couple of times in my lunch break near work but this is the first time I have taken it out on a road trip.  I'd get it in the air three times on the day.  Firstly at Wynarka, which is a small township twenty kilometres before Karoonda.

I've got tonnes of photos of Karoonda so it was refreshing to get some from a different angle.  Is it just me or does that dog on the silo art look like he's looking at the drone.

The letter boxes in Sandalwood are old microwave ovens.  Get on the dirt roads there and you'll see heaps of ruins.

This line no longer sees trains (surprise, surprise) so I took the photo opportunity at Cobera.

Wunkar was the third place I got the drone up on the day.  You can vaguely see the kwaka in front of the Golden Grain Tavern (behind the silo) in this photo.  The Golden Grain Tavern was the venue for our RTE and the food was good.  No Guinness meant I had to settle for a Hahn Super Dry.

I got there super early because I wanted to play with the drone before everyone else rocked up.

After the weather we have had recently it was a glorious day for a ride.  Good food and good company.

No stops on the way home.  No spot for the trip either.  Looking forward to Strath' next month.

I'm liking the drone.  It's a bit time consuming to set up so I' take some videos as well.  Editing videos is more time consuming though.
