ST1300 Bike Quip Screen
« on: June 01, 2019, 02:26:15 PM »
Hi all...

I've pretty much decided to go down the Bike Quip screen track but not sure which one to go for.

Do I go for the basic 20" or 21" high & 2 " wider Screen or do I go the whole hog and get the 4" wider screen?

Clear vs tinted?

I'm around 6' tall and nearly as wide..well, that may be a slight exaggeration.... :wink1 but needless to say I'm a fairly big lump...
My partner, Sue is built fairly "solid" too...she's around 5' 6" tall (short?)

My only concern with the larger screen is how it looks. Not having seen one in the flesh, does it look a bit too wide for the style of the bike?
While comfort is important, I still want my baby to look okay...

Anyhow, I'd love to hear your opinions...

Cheers
Russell  :rd13

My advice would be to go tinted.   It's a very feint tint and looks great.
The photos on the BikeQuip web site are of my bike, which now belongs to Shilas.   :'(    See https://www.st1300-accessories.co.uk/product-page/st1300-screens-flip-top-wider-20-tall

Hi Russell
I got the 4" wider (2" each side  :fp), 21" tall screen and I'm very happy with it. I'm 6"1" in the old money and I reckon it's just right. In fact it is so good that in summer it seems too good (or I've become less tolerant to riding on hot days) and so I have modified the original screen (cut it's height down by a bit over a 3rd) and change the screens over in December and put the Bike Quip one back on in March. Early days yet but it seems to work well for me.

I went for the Bike Quip screen because Julie got a heap of turbulence when we were riding (in fact so did I behind me when riding one up) and the curved up top of the Bike Quip seems to have fixed that.

Cheers ... Mark

PS, I agree with Pete re the light tint.

Thanks for your thoughts, Stinky & Mark!  ++

I'm sort of thinking the 2" wider one may be the go...unfortunately they don't seem to have the tinted version in stock though...
So, if I want the tint I have to go with the extra wide...Perhaps I need to hang off for a bit to see if they get more stock in?...decisions, decisions... :think1

I'd certainly recommend the screens from Bike Quip though.
While they aren't cheap, they are a quality item and Steve is really great to deal with...  :thumbsup  :clap
