Sounds like a plan.  I have a new rear tyre and a new battery so I am ready.

Fitted new rear brake pads yesterday, old ones were so thin that they appeared transparent, lol.

(Hmmm ... I remember that I last changed pads in mid Feb, 2012 ??)

I may travel up on Friday 24th, then camp over somewhere on the return trip.

We will probably hit the road around 2 am to arrive before noon. Prefer driving through the night. Oils changed in the 76, just have to drop in the dual battery for fridge, rotate wheels and we are set.
Catch up at Paringa. Ride safe and give us a tinkle on the mobile whenever you take a break. :hatwave

Going shopping tomorrow for a new GPS unit as my old Tom tom is now blind, and cannot locate any satellites to tell me 'where I iz at'?
To be fair, it's now over 5 years old, and has seen some pretty filthy weather in that time.
Am looking at units in the $200-250 range.

Just looked at current weather in Renmark... temp is MINUS 3.6 degrees!

... I think I may have to get a cabin at Paringa, as neither my tent nor myself are suited to arctic weather!

This is my intended route. Mt Gambier, Bordertown, Pinaroo, Paringa.

Only problem with making it a day trip for me is the distance and the dark...  I would have to leave home before 6 in the morning, and have to dodge roos.
Bad enough that I probably wont get home til around 9-930 pm Saturday.  I hate travelling in the dark through roo country.

After surgery yesterday, I donned a woolly beanie to add some padding between stitches in back of my scalp and helmet.. made helmet a firmer fit, but softer on the sensitive area.
Went for a short local ride to test features of new Garmin GPS.

I fitted the new unit further forward and higher than the old one, so that I do not have to look down.

Will take a better photo in daylight tomorrow.

To ensure that I eat lunch Jd, I will ensure that I don't eat on Friday when I ride up  :grin

All I did to mount my GPS was drill two holes through the supplied window suction mount, and screwed it straight into the plastic shield.
Very agricultural, but at least it works!  :thumb

Hi Alan,
Tried sending pm in reply to your msg re the dash shelf but comes back saying your inbox is full.
What I'm after is a Migsel gps mount with ramball attachment, can't find a Migsel supplier in Oz,
So I would certainly be interested if this is what the guy from Mildura has  :like

PS. Will be passing through Peterborough sometime Sunday 26th,

Did Port Augusta on the 17th so that's out the way - Quote for car came in at about $200 - 220 and they might fix while car is in the driveway so booked for next Wednesday.

So it looks like we'll be there.

Wouldn't it be easier going via Karoonda http://goo.gl/maps/1eFe3buDuKz (http://goo.gl/maps/1eFe3buDuKz) though not a lot of difference other than less traffic.

I'm heading up Friday via Tailem Bend & Karoonda, staying at Loxton Friday night (Julie is already up there on account her Mum passed away last Saturday aged 90 and a great lady, I was a very lucky man having her as a mother-in-law. It was expected and Eileen was looking forward to catching the bus (as she put it)). The funeral is Monday.  Anyway, I have a very easy ride Saturday morning and am looking forward to meeting the crew.
Cheers ... Mark
PS the Murray Bridge, Mannum, Swan Reach, Maggea, Loxton, Paringa ride is a much more interesting ride IMHO (particularly if you stop at the Wunkar Golden Grain Tavern although Saturday morning might be a bit early).

It stopped raining here about an hour or so ago, now just an occasional light sprinkle.
Having a coffee, and should be on the road in about a half hour.

 :hatwave

Kev arrived Paringa safe and sound at 3pm but can't post message, very cold he says ......Brrrrrrrrrrrr.

Alan, I was having a play on the open road (no other traffic) heading for Bordertown, had between 5 and 6.5 dialled on the right hand gauge  :eek

After Bordertown, I reverted to around 3.2 for the rest of the trip  :thumb

We had a cold day for our RTE at Paringa on the Murray river near the SA/Vic border, with temps barely crawling above 10 degrees.   Despite the cold we had eleven OzSTOC members attend.   It was good to see four Vics make the journey, and a big welcome to SA's Langers and JohnG on their first OzSTOC gathering.

We I neglected to get a flag photo  :fp

Sorry Pete, not Johns first RTE, regardless; thanks everyone for making the effort.

Many thanks to all.  Sorry, been tied up in Bendigo doing some painting. Its been well docoed about it being cold and that's 100% spot on.. Traveling from Bendigo was a bit brisk at times but nailed it's  arrival time within 10 minutes without issue. Great to catch up with all, some new faces and some of the regulars. Special mention to my bunky JG for the many topics discussed over a few frothies, and may be a red. Always have a great time and try to catch up with all. Nice to finally meet up with Allan and Heather. Nice place to visit and well organized.  Thanks all. Nigel
