Title: Indicator behaviour
Post by: Calsonic on June 25, 2020, 09:02:02 AM
Hey there knowledgeable people :-)

My right indicator has an odd behaviour. When I turn it on, it can take 3 - 5 seconds before it actually starts working. Could this be a fault in the actual indicator/flasher unit?
The left indicator works normally, it's only the right.

Any input appreciated.

Cheers

Cal.

If one side works ok it’s unlikely to be a faulty flasher relay, check connections, especially earth and globe itself.

It could be the globes, but unlikely that both would have a problem. Its probably the right indicator switch contact being a bit dirty. A good clean and relube should fix it.

Possibly a loose (high resistance) join in the wiring causing it to take a while to warm up the bi-metallic strip in the Indicator can...

I have ascertained that the problem is in the switch. I have tried cleaning it up as best as possible and at first I thought I had it fixed, but it is still taking a few seconds to engage. So I will enquire about getting a new switch altogether and see how I go.

I have the same issue with my 1300. Left indicator doesnt like cold mornings and requires some manual management until it warms up (about half an hour)
