Title: Air box screws
Post by: Weggy13 on March 10, 2021, 03:09:44 PM
Does anyone have wreck I can buy the 8 air box screws from, the ones under the 4 way pipes that hold the air box to the throttle body? I’ve taken mine out and 3 were stripped, 1 beyond repair so I had to screw remover it. Ipswich / Brisbane, or Maryborough / Hervey Bay Area?
Thanks.

You should be able to take them to a local Fastener shop, and get some stainless steel replacements.

Think they are 5mm screws, the originals are JIS standard not philips. Thats why the heads strip out.

If you talking about item 16 here:-

They are 5mm x 20 mm long.

A long as they are 5mm Philips heads replacements should do the trick though.

I'd replace them with socket heads (allen key) as lots of folk seem to have trouble with stripped JIS/Phillips head screws.

I recommend owners buy themselves a decent JIS screwdriver!

Since I bought mine they are my go-to screwdrivers for both jis & phillip head screws... :thumbs

Yeah someone has done a number on the last one on mine, I’m going to have to use a screw extractor to get it out...

I hope the "extraction" all goes smoothly!  :thumbs

Great thinking Pete. Kicking myself for not thinking of it myself.
